Yes, because I'm staunchly atheistic without EVER having considered ANY other possiblities.
*eyeroll* Being "open minded" doesn't mean being so open that my mind falls out. I don't have to be open minded to the completely impossible and contradictory.

You are WAY overgeneralizing here. Yes, there are extremists on both sides that become irrational in their extremism.
I can only speak for myself. Most people would consider me to be an atheist. I think of myself more as a scientist than as an atheist. I try to form my beliefs via the scientific method. This means that I must at times consider several possible explanations and think about ways to falsify each of them. If I am able to falsify an explanation, then I set it aside and only revisit it if I realize later that my method of falsification itself might have been invalid.
I call myself an atheist only because I clearly do disbelieve the particular notion of God that comes from the Hebrew Bible. I think there is sufficient evidence to support my claim that the Hebrew Bible is basically just the mythical stories of the Hebrews from around 3000 years ago. I think that the God of Abraham is no more deserving of serious consideration than Zeus or any of hundreds of other gods that were believed in around the time that mankind was acquiring written language.
Why the universe exists at all is still such a big open question that I won't dismiss out of hand the possibility that it was created by some super intelligence. However, I think that proposed theory has a much higher burden of proof than simpler proposals. I think it is much simpler to say that the universe has always existed, and that all intelligence has evolved within the universe.
Now, in what way do you think I am being close minded?? If you agree that I am not, then I am an existence proof that not all atheists are close minded. I am sure we can find some Christians who will serve in the same capacity to refute your claim that Christians are close minded.

Exactly alike? Refuse to be open minded? Interesting....
Dont go quitting your day job just yet - you arent half as correct as you 'd like to beleive.
I beleive in Science. Science changes occasionally when new evidence is uncovered. How is that refusing to be open minded? While I will admit that I hate Christian RESPONSES (especially Fireball22's), I can state with certainty that the only CHristian I hate is GW Bush.

Extreme believers of anything are essentially the same - be it fundamentalist muslims or neonazis or orange marchers or sexists - they are all ignorant and have no tolerance of others and do not support the concept of a global community. We all have an obligation to remember that extremism breeds intolerance and prejudice. Acceptance and tolerance should be the watchwords of the noughties.

They are hardly extremes. Assume there are 1,000 gods. Christians say 999 don't exist. Atheists say 1,000 don't exist. We are right next to each other on the continuum. The extreme opposite to an atheist would be someone who believes in hundreds of gods.

I say this always, that we make wrong, our religion,in fact, the Lord is not any extremist, simply a lot of Christians, they say to believe something they do not understand, listen to your heart, and let you know important is what we give to the others, this is the real religion. And who gives love, and respect, is christian for me ,have a nice day

Not all Atheists and Christians are exactly alike.
My best friend is the opposite of me in this and we have great discussions and do not judge each other.

Nope, not at all.
I've searched for a reason to believe in god for many years now.
Unfortunately, despite all my studies, I have yet to find a single piece of evidence that remotely supports such an idea.
