To make it through one day, just one, without one group bashing another??

Do any of you recall this happening??

Elaborate, if you will.

I don't think it's possible.

Maybe one day, but not whilst we are human.

I can only speak for myself but I do not think I have bashed anyone and it is not because I did not feel like it. Sometimes memebers of my own religion cause me to get frusrated, and I think no wonder everyone is unhappy with us.
Overstating a certain stance can also get one down, as if the subject can not be discussed in an honorable fashion, without remarks clearly stated to provoke, those make me want to bash, and then there are the fun pokers, which normally make me laugh but sometimes when I am frustrated make me want to bash cuz I think some of the subject matter discussed here is serious enough that were there some honor and trying to see the other persons side was done then maybe we could actually accomplish something positive.

You know being territorial is something even animals understand, but do we as humans have to jump out of the gate in any given race and make the first line of bussiness to make sure our urine is the one at the top of the pile.

This is a great question

I for one promise to do my best not to bash and to try and understand both sides of each question without expreesing my anxieties in crude forms trying to provoke others. Wish as many as can would promise the same.

I'm thinken fat chance but hoping maybe

Spooky, I perceive you to be a sincere person, unlike most people on Y!A's, including me much of the time. In recognition of that, I will offer a very serious answer based on my own experience.

My grandfather was a Baptist preacher who had retired from active preaching when I was still a baby. When I was growing up, we moved several times. And, each time we moved, found a new church to join. None of which were directly affiliated with my grandfather or his ministry.

As a consequence, I was exposed to many different variations of the Baptist doctrine. The one thing that all those churches and people had in common is they actively opposed nearly all other churches & denominations, including other Baptist denominations.

And they were quite vocal about that opposition.

Here are some of the lessons I was taught throughout my youth as a Baptist:

1.The pope is the anti-Christ, as are all Catholics (idol worshiping Satanists);

2. Black people are the same as animals and should be treated as such;

3. All non-Baptists are wicked and evil to varying degrees, including some members of the congregation to which you belong since they are not "real Christians";

4. Non-believers ("atheists") are actively seeking to do evil and are actively following Satan, i.e., "Satan worshipers."

and,

5. Various other doctrines that implied that humans are little more than out of control demons whose only chance to be decent human beings is to attend the one and only true Baptist church (the one you are currently attending).

As an adult, I also investigated other Christian denominations and found they share similar beliefs.

I'm not sure what common ground you expect others to find with people who believe even one of those principles, but good luck. I have no such expectations.

I wish it WERE possible, but, considering the general make-up of Answers, I honestly don't believe "making it through one day without group-bashing" will ever happen.

I think one of the main reasons it will never happen here is because there are people who visit Answers who feel bashing people with opposing viewpoints is the most natural thing in the world to do. Having respect for the opposing viewpoints of others just doesn't fall into their radar. To me, it just points to their immaturity and/or narrow-mindedness. It's like they're saying, "...well, if you don't agree with ME, I'm going to bash you!"

It would be nice - but I don't see it happening any time soon.

Unfortunately it doesn't look likely. It seems that we are born with a contrary streak within us. A Contrary will see a perfectly fine situation with a team network in place where all is functioning as it should, and be jealous that he or she is not the team leader in the center of place in the group. The only solution therefore is to enlist a group around oneself that you have convinced does not benefit by the already established program and begin policies to thwart it. This is turns brings to light another group based upon the same patterns.
'
I would 'like' to believe that being in a state of higher consciousness would alleviate this contrariness but even amongst the best and most enlightened minds, comes this need to 'replace' the current mode of higher thought rather than to merely add to it. For instance, Freud. They tear everything apart that he did or said, rather than grant him his due and add to the concepts or offer other opinions. (Throwing the baby out with the bathwater.)

Is there 'ever a solution?' Well, perhaps there is. Even though the chances 'seem slim,' it DOES SEEM, that we inhabitants of the planet 'do' share a source of consciousness, just as lamps share a source of electricity, that in our lowered states of consciousness are not aware of, it's existence. If we could get past the rhetoric we have learned since our emergence in this world that awakening, at once, than we could note that everything you are I am, everything I am, you are. Or to quote Mr. Lennon. I am you as you are me as we are one and we are all together.

Let's be honest, most of the "bashers" here aren't really interested in sincere discussion. Hence you get all the thinly veiled barbs disguised as "questions for Christians". And you get predictably defensive responses from the targets of their bitterness. Some days I wonder why I waste any time here at all, but every once in awhile there is someone who wants to engage in a sincere discussion or has a legitimate question. I feel good if I can give a helpful answer to that person while wading through all the other crap here.

No....Because you are dealing with a group on here that is mostly young and probably still trying to figure the world out even though they believe honestly and truly that they understand everything they are contending....it is a truth of being young that your views must be the only correct answer and that those who do not share them must be the opposite....thus if you do not agree with them you are labeled....it is one of the things that makes growing up so difficult, school so rough at times, drives parents and teachers crazy, and you to ask the question

I can do my part, I don't bash people as a general rule. I think it's possible, but not probable if you meant one day on YA R&S where noone bashes....too many hateful people...they get a charge out of insulting others. It would be nice to see though!

Absolutely not. The indoctrination some people have been through is so intense that they simply can't help it. They truly believe that they know the way and are obsessed with "enlightening" the rest of humanity. I think it's absolutely pitiful and an example of how people mess with other peoples" minds. I hold thinking for myself as one of the true joys in life. It is absolutely exhilarating.

Can't say, dude. Besides, in this day and age every other group is against the other for some reason or another. Case in point, just Google - Mel Gibson + drunkenness + Jews.

Politics and religion are "blood sports" when it comes to discussion of issues. One side will never convince the other of their point of view so bashing continues at nauseium with no end in sight to this pointless, tight minded nonsense. Acceptance and tolerance are unfortunately not on the radar.
