Nagging will almost always bring resistance. You just need to set up guidlelines for school nights and homework doing. Make it a routine. I allow my son to play outside with his buddies after school , then he has to be in no later than 6:00 to do homework. No questions asked , no arguments. For young children , under grade 6, have them do it nearby you, not in thier room. You can monitor them better. Make the routine consistant and they will fall right in line.

You don't need to nag them. You sit them down at the table, you open the book and say "Do your homework now". Then there is no comp time, no TV, no PS, no phone, nothing until it's done. You'll be amazed. It works like a charm every time!

No - just deny a privelege until it's done. No nintendo until finished, no pokemon til finished, no desert til finished. Or you can get on a positive route - a reward if homework is done on time every night for two weeks or a month or whatever.

Every chance you get...
Also, keep their teachers on speed dial. Get their e-mail address. Take their cell, TV, PlayStation, Game-Boy, PSP, XBox, etc., for whatever length of time till they understand the importance of it. As a parent you have to be strong. You're not their friend, you're their PARENT. You set the rules! Be FIRM!

I would tie it to "real world."
That is, if I don't go to work and do what I'm suppose to, I cannot get the money needed to buy things I want/need for my family.
Likewise, if they don't do their homework, they don't get priviledges or things that they want (eg. TV, games, etc.).
You can teach them the actual result of bad consequences and give them an incentive to complete their homework...all in one application.
Good luck!

No. Instead, force them to do it. Be the parent and be in charge.
