Not all of them do... Most of them do. I felt much love from some though, I respect them.

Not all athiests are rude to christians, I should know, I am one, and my best friend is a christian and we've been friends since the fifth grade. It is the generalization of this question that separates people from people. By asking this question you pissed off a lot of people because you grouped us(atheist) together as if we all have the same brain and the same purpose. This is not true. I don't mean to sound as if I am attacking your question, but I just wish you would phrase it better. I am all for christian beliefs, but I don't think it's for me, most atheists are atheists because we don't want to believe in something we don't understand. And unless you point out that you are a christian hoping to get a response from someone, we don't care what your belief is. My friend is understanding about my doubt about christianity and she answers any questions I have with an open mind and with honesty. This is what all christians should do, they should not assume that because we doubt christianity that we are attacking them. What doesn't make any sense is that a persons religion clasifies them into a category and separates people like you and me who might otherwise have been good friends.

I have been an atheist for 30 years. I do not go out looking for debates or arguments against religious people. I dont wear a sign around my neck that says I DONT BELIEVE IN GOD! I dont make it a point to tell everyone I meet what I believe or dont believe. I really only divulge my beliefs when someone asks me what they are. (and here is where your question comes in) When I do tell religious people that I am an atheist it is like I am the lowest form of life on Earth. These people talk to me in ways that just amaze me. They tell me I am wrong, that I will go to hell for not believing. I am treated as an outcast. These are usually Christian people, who are supposed to be forgiving, and full of kindness and love for their fellow man and yet they treat me like dirt because I dont believe what they believe. I dont bad mouth their religion. I dont "blaspheme" their god. I just tell them I dont believe and I get s*** upon. So, the atheist you say "are defensive" are probably defending themselves by attacking the people who attacked them first. Try it. Tell a Christian you dont
believe. See what kind of reaction you get. You will understand why atheists have to use what we can to defend our opinions

You might want to reflect upon the Crusades and the Inquisitions - so called Christians did plenty of picking upon the atheists or anyone who did not conform

I know, it's crazy. It's not like you christians are calling them rude or senseless. (By the way, if you read some of the posts that self professed christians have written regarding non believers I think you'd discover a semblance of rudeness on both sides of the coin.

Ronin, she deleted her answer from that post. Think she didn't want to be revealed as a hypocrite?

Mommy3, have you been turning a blind eye to bigots who bash on Atheists? Come on. If a Christian is talking about Atheists, it's never good.

Why do Christians have to be so judgemental - against the commandments of their lord and savior??

#1 - youre bashing ALL atheists with this statment.
#2 - You are attempting to turn your beleifs into my laws. Ill fight you to the death to prevent that from happening. If you think being rude hurts, just keep pushing your silly beleifs on us ......

There are two primary types of Christians in my personal experience:

"Hey, we believe in this God and that he loved us so much, he sent his Son Jesus to pay the price for us. We think he's really nifty. If you'd like, we'd love to have you join us to honor him sometime. If not, that's cool too, you obviously have your own beliefs and that's cool."

and

"If you don't believe in God then you're an idiot who is going to burn in f***ing hell for all eternity! I should kill you right now to prove to you that every dying person will know that Jesus is their savior but it'll be too late for most of them! Your scientists are the tools of Satan and all of you are going to burn forever!"

And before you say that I'm overexaggerating ... I've had door-to-door missionaries in my area that I had to call the police to get off my property because they were spouting death threats at me in front of their children.

I've got no problem with the first group, and I love them to death 'cause most of 'em are really awesome folk.

No mercy for the second group. NONE.

In my case, I'm become somewhat bitter from all the nasty and insulting things that christians have posted on my questions and have sent to me...

It not all christians, just the ones who put atheists down or come in with a condescending attitude

Atheists and christians have much more in common than they like to think. They are both stuck on one way of thinking and refuse to be open minded. They are 2 extremes, they're rude to each other cause they are exactly alike.
