Do not try westsiderentals.com, it is very popular but it is a waste of money, the listings are never new, and when you call someone they always tell you its been rented.
So, as we have our apartment in West LA (the area is actually called Mar Vista) that area is great.
It isnt the nicest area of LA but it isnt bad either.
There are alot of buildings and its close to everything.
Close to the freeways, close to the beach, and you can walk to restaurants/bars, grocery stores etc
Not that common in LA!!
Try craigslist.org, that is the best, better than westsiderentals

You won't find any single or even studio at $650 in Los Angeles. But if you are willing to share two bedroom that's possible for Miracle Mile area. In case you don't know where that is it's where Los Angeles Country Museum of Art is and it's very close to Beverly Hills. You should search Craigslist in Los Angeles to find a roommate.

My boyfriend and I had the hardest time finding places by just using the newspaper and apartment guides they have in supermarkets. We bit the bullet and subscribed, and instantly found tons of listings. We currently live in a terrific part of Pasadena (within walking distance of shopping areas and restaurants) and pay 1090$ a month.
