You start with Texas Toast becaue the bigger the slice of bread, the better the sandwich. Take your texas toast and butter both sides of each piece. Then you put a slice of cheddar cheese in the middle, two slices if you like your grilled cheese cheesy. Then you melt a small pat of butter in a skillet or on a griddle. Place the sandwich on top of the butter, wait for it to crisp and brown the bread, then flip and do the same with the other side. Serve with a dill pickle slice! Great!

First use a good thick slice of bread. Lay some heavy Mayo, 2 thick slices of American cheese. Close the sandwich. On the pan put a heaping tablespoon of butter. Then grill for about 2 minutes on each side. Repeat the butter for the other side. Don't put the flame too high or it will scorch the butter and bread. Good Appitite

Use shredded fontina cheese. It is has a really mild, nutty flavor and it melts better than any other cheese. A little pricey though. Also use a strong bread like pumpernickel. Then melt 2 tbsp butter in a skillet on Medium-LOW heat. Butter the bread also and put it butter side down on the skillet. Add the shredded fontina and put the other slice of buttered bread on top butter side up. Let it cook about 2 minutes. Flip it and cook another 2. Keep flipping and cooking till it's how you want it. Grilled cheese rocks.

well ever since the George forming grills came out oh my god my grill cheese is off the hook . You do not even have to put any thing extra on the sand witch to make it taste good ,but if your looking for the original way all you have to do is get a frying pan add a little butter or margin then place the sand witch in the pan let it heat until the cheese is meal ted but you have to flip sides so the sand witch will not burn. and it will come out soooooooooo creamy and good

First use Texas toast instead of plain bread. Lightly butter both sides of the toast. Use a griddle or a cast iron skillet. Heat until butter sizzles when dropped on the griddle. Cook two or more pieces of the toast until golden brown, flip over the toast and add a slice of cheese to each side. When the cheese begins to melt, flip the two sides together. Let cool and enjoy!

GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH
A perennial favorite: soft melted cheese and pressed, buttery toast.
2 slices Cheddar, American, or Swiss cheese
2 slices white bread
2 tablespoons butter

Put the cheese between the slices of bread. Heat 1 tablespoon of the butter in a skillet or grill and when melted add the sandwich. Gently press down with a spatula once or twice during the grilling. When one side is golden, add the remaining tablespoon of butter, turn the sandwich over, and brown.
Grilled Cheese with Bacon. Fry 3 slices bacon until cooked but not crisp. Pat dry of excess fat, add on top of the cheese, and grill as directed.

Grilled Cheese with Ham. Put 2 thin slices ham on the cheese and grill as directed. Serve with sweet pickle.

Onion-Cheese Sandwich. Follow the recipe for Grilled Cheese Sandwich, but lightly coat 1 slice of bread with Dijon mustard. Sauté 3 to 4 slices onion in butter and put on top of the cheese. Cover and grill.

Tomato-Cheese Sandwich. Follow the recipe for Grilled Cheese Sandwich, but add two thin slices tomato to the sandwich before grilling.
