I'm wanting to build a computer that can. I work all day and me and my g/f want to record our shows. The most I found was a quad I believe....

Your receiver needs to have "multiple tuners" eight in your case, to be bale to record different programs at the same time.
Most digital recoders today have dual tuner, you can record while watching another show because the other tuner is locked recording.

for video camera's yes they sell DVR that can record up to 24 camera's I know some computers can do more. On standard tv you can only record 2 channels per DVR.

Yes, with multiple recorders. But there would be a definite degradation of signal.

umm not entiely sure but i no sky allows u to record tv while watching it but why would you want to unless your pirating shows.
