Shelters and resce societies! You are in pain cause you lost your buddy and rescue and shelter dogs need someone to love and someone to love them. you can never replace you doggy, but you can save a dog and bring it and yourself some joy.

go to a shelter. there are lots of pups that would love to have you as an owner. go look around and see if anything "jumps out" at you. you might luck out and there be a new litter there too and you can start from scratch again. but dont forget about the older dogs who have less of a chance of finding a good home. they need love too.
good luck. and i'm super sorry about your loss. i know how hard it can be. i grew up with my dog, we had to put her down at 15 (i was about 22 at the time) and i felt like i lost part of my family. that was over 2.5 years ago and thinking of it still makes me cry. but..... i went the the shelter i got her from and found a new litter and now have a wonderfully bratty little 13 week old that i know she would have loved if she had ever met her.

My puppy just died a month ago. He got hit by a car. I have two cats and hugging them makes me feel a little better. I know that because you loved your dog that getting another one seems like a bad idea because it's liek your going agansit the dogs memory. I would try to surround ourself with people that love you and maybe in time look for another animal.

Dora , I had the same experience. I went to the dog pound and rescued a dog. She is a great dog and my best buddy now.

You can rescue one from a pound, rescue group, or humane shelter. There is also petfinder.com that has most avaible dogs from your area. Take your time and go into these places and spend time with different dogs. I know the SPCA allows you to spend tons of time with the dog. Find one that you form a bond with, you will know when you have found the right one.
Sorry for your loss. I know from experience how bad it hurts.

Go to your local Humane Society. They have so many pets that need new homes and someone to love them. They do have puppies that you could raise, train and housebreak much easier than an older dog. But, older dogs need homes too.

I hope you will consider this.

www.petfinder.com

Its a wonderful site showing dogs available in your local shelter. And/Or donate to the shelter in honor of the dog that passed away.

go to a pet store or a shelter but go soon. and don't feel like it's taking his place that could never happen. just love the new dog like you did your other dog.

I agree with everyone else, go to a shelter and get another furry buddy to sleep next to you and help you through your sadness, he/she will help!
