Tiger Flowers was one of the greatest fighters of all time a record of 115-14-6 53 KO's, while Zales' record was 67-18-2.Flowers died at age 32 in his prime while having a "routine" eye operation.I would have to say Flowers in this one by decision

You did it again Brent! Another great matchup. Both were certainly great fighters and Flowers was good enough to beat the legendary Greb several times. Zale of course is famous for his titanic battles with Rocky Graziano. I believe that Tiger Flowers is the overall better fighter and would wear down the durable and tough Zale winning by 13th round technical knockout.

Zale - W 67 (KO's 45) TF 87 - W pct 77% - KO pct 52% - wins over Graziano{2} - KO'ed by Graziano, Cerdan and several other average fighters - #41 ranked puncher (overrated as a puncher)

Flowers - W 134 (KO's 55) TF 161 W pct 83% - KO pct 34% - wins over B. Mimms{5} and Greb[2] - KO'ed by Gans, Langford, Flynn and several other fighters

Flowers was a good boxer and he would not have fought toe-to-toe with Zale. Tiger Flowers by a 15 rd split decision.
