Satan tempted Adam and Eve, so they sinned. If it weren't for Satan, they would not have sinned. We all became sinners because of this terrible, terrible act of disobeying God. Jesus came for the purpose of saving everyone from the wickedness of Adam and Eve.

But, if it weren't for Satan, there would be no sin, so Jesus would never have died to save us from our sins. So Christians would not even exist. It seems to me that Christians owe Satan a debt of gratitude. After all, if it weren't for Satan, Christians could not spend their lives bragging about how they're going to Heaven and everyone else is going to Hell.

Good point. Let's take it a step further. God made Lucifer knowing full well that he would fall and become the Lord of Evil. He could have made him different, but instead he made him as is. Thus God created evil, God created the fruit of Good and Evil KNOWING Satan would tempt Eve, the ENTIRE THING was His plan from the beginning. He created Sin and then created Sinners and then created the guy who would die for our sins, etc.

And this is supposed to be free will? More like free Willy...

Correct. Satan is a reason we need a Savior from our sins, sicknesses, demonic problems, etc.

The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life, through faith.

Incorrect. We would still be Christians if there wasn't the first fall of Adam. Because, spiritual death would have never happened & our connection to God never severed. Jesus Christ is the Son of God & is of the Trinity God. So was alive & well before the fall & walked with Adam (Ish & Isha) in the Garden of Eden.

Also, if it weren't for satan, there wouldn't be any death & hell.

I think that the gradtitude that you talk about should go to Adam and Eve. All Satan did was tempt them, if they would have said no, then Jesus would not have died on the cross.I mean all they had to do is tell God that a snake wanted them to eat the fruit, and God would have destoryed the snake. So, Satan only played a small role in the sins of man

Whether you look at Satan or any other aspect of our lives here on earth, all this attests to is the dichotomy of our existence. The only difference with Christians is that they've created a religion based on this fact of life.

Woman/man. Light/dark. Up/down. Left/right.

And to answer your question? Yes. Without Satan there would be no need for Christianity or any of the Big Three monotheistic religions. Without the perception of evil there would be no appreciation for the perception of good.

Of course not. However, your question should be, "If it weren't for Adam's sinning in the Garden of Eden, would there be Christians?" That would have been a better question because if Adam had not given in to sin, he would still be here on earth surrounded with perfect offspring. The devil would have been destroyed right there. Being perfect, Adam and his children would have had no need for Christ to forgive them of their sins. Unfortunately, Adam's disobedience led the human race down another path.

What gratitude? According to the bible, sin leads to death. If Satan didn't exist, he wouldn't cause man to sin and thus man would not die. If you don't die you don't go to either Heaven or hell; you would live on earth forever, no death, no pain. If anything, we should all be pissed off at Satan for puting us in this state in the first place. I know I am.

Okay, yes I agree. With out Satan there would be no need for Christ.

Without a criminal, there would be no need for law enforcement.
Without an injury, there would be no need for doctors
Without a disease, there would be no need for a cure.

So yes, Satan does fill his role quite nicely. It must cheese him off to know that he's the main reason why there is a Savior. -best wishes.

This applies to all abrahamic faiths (Muslims and Jews).

If there was no satan...I don't know.
I'm a Muslim and I do believe in divine plan. But yah, I don't think anyone can answer that. This a philosophical question

Satan is just a figment of your imagination. It's a way that some people don't own up to their own problems. They can say that the devil tempted them. No devil tempted them. They were tempted by themselves.
