The dog is trying to claim the 8yr old as hers. This is a dominance issue that needs to be corrected!!!!! Keep the bedroom door closed when not in use.

Don't know why she started, but now that she has, you need to be certain you get every trace of smell out or she'll keep going back. What you then need to do is re-train her, so you need to either keep the door closed or put up a baby gate so she can't get in, unless you can watch her. If you're free to watch her, you can stop her before she does it. Tell her no very firmly and take her outside, then praise her a lot if she goes outside and come back in. She needs to get out of the habit now and be re-trained.

first of all the image I'm seeing is the chihuahua is afraid to jump off the bed to go potty. small dogs are notorious for breaking legs within their first year... please refrain from letting the dog up on furniture that she might be tempted to jump off.

Its all about potty training. get some books or you can take her to puppy training classes. they work great as long and you remember you only get as much out of it as you put in it
