I ask the question not to offend anyone, I respect everyones beliefs so please try to refrain from hateful comments. what if god was just the great wizard of oz, maybe he dosent even know why he is god, but knows that in order to have faith in him you must have faith in yourself? what if god was just a good friend at the end of the bar waiting for you to sober up, so he can take you home? He knows that you know the way, but from the blur of this life you have forgotten the directions. what if the meaning of god was not the meaning we suggest. what if the meaning of god was just to implie more of something that we cant understand?

The brilliance in the writing of The Wizard of Oz is in the allegory of human existence.
Each character in the piece can be related to self. If you think about it, just about everyone you know could be cast as either Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow, and the Wizard himself. The Wicked Witch is the evil side of life. Those people who are psychopaths or sociopaths that have no conscience and think only of their personal needs and wants.
Even our life cycles are present in this story. As children we all seek some magical wizard who can answer all of our questions and make our worlds just the way we want them. We might even find that wizard in the form of religion. But when we finally mature and become adults, we discover that the image presented is not necessarily what makes it manifest. It could be and often is all smoke and mirrors with some sorry little man pulling the leavers to make the machine work. And when that happens...
We either become cynical or we look for the divine where it lives. In life itself. In that good person at the end of the bar who will take our car keys from us and call a cab when we've had too much to drink. Or the passerby who grabs a child out of the street when a vehicle is about to accidental hit that child. And beyond that...
There is the sincere appreciation of life all round us. The pure and very real wonder of our world. This is where divinity lives. Not in some made-up world of heaven or hell.

In the wizard of Oz, Oz ended up just being a flim flam man. Nothing Godlike about him, if God was like this then why would you give God the title God? Isn't the name God a way of conveying a higher power that loves you and wants the best for you. If he is equal to you then God isn't what that entity should be called.

I get your drift and you are right the true nature of God is unknowable to us in our life on earth. I think God has given us all the instructions we need through all of His prophets. The message is the same...you must walk the path of right to be allowed into heaven where you will know the true nature of God on the Judgment Day. Those who's scales are light of good will be cut of for eternity to ponder the nature of God for eternity, those who's scales are heavy will know the answers to their questions.
