Yahoo Freak: That is precisely the problem. Out of the total number of Muslims in the world (about 2 Billion), ten percent you say do support terrorism (90 percent do not according to you). That ten percent represents two hundred million who do support it. If you then take one percent of those who are willing to commit atrocities it comes to two million people. That is what is frightening........... As a Catholic I cannot understand any religion or any person who claims to be religious, or who is a cleric in any religion, who does not bar any such people from their Mosque. My God and your God is the same - so why on earth can we not have peace. The things that are said on this forum about Jesus annoy me, sometimes to a great extent, but there is no way in the world that I would contemplate doing some of the things that were done as a result of what the Pope said in a scholastic lecture when he quoted something that was said centuries ago. Or for that matter the stupid cartoon of your Holy Man......... I can understand the annoyance but death............

Ever heard the saying "one rotten egg will spoil the whole basket"?
Ok i sure you have. No one is accusing you of supporting terrorism but the people involved in 9/11 spoiled it for all of the innocent folk like your self.
Everyone will never have a good image of muslims. Just some of us. Don't get annoyed anyway. Sticks and stones will break your bones but words are not suppose to hurt you. They do sometimes but the most important thing is that you know what you stand for, nothing else. I am not a muslim. But i stand with you anyway. You are my brother. Alafia (peace and well being)

I'm very sorry for your isolation, I know that can be very painful. Beleive it or not, when I was younger, I felt isolated because I was a professed christain. Many Muslims are kind, ethical, hardworking people with a devotion to their faith that is very admirable. But I confess that I am not a big fan of Islam. And I am afraid that the image of the religion of Islam is not going to change until the violence in its name (and constant threat of violence) stops. Meanwhile, you may find yourself less isolated if you become active in sports, clubs, or things that have nothing to do with Islam. People will then have the opportunity to get to know you and appreciate you as an individual rather than as a representative of some group.
Hoping the best for you...

I say you need to find people who will be friends with you and who won't exclude you because of your religion. There are many, MANY people who think that most Muslims are not terrorists.
Stop listening to all the negative things people might say about you and start paying attention to all the good things. There will always be rumors and cruel sayings. You can't change the way some people act. The only thing you can change is the way you react to them. Ignore the mean people and move on to better things.

Yeah, it sucks. One shot of bad press and all of a sudden, you're the new out guy.
Imagine how christian priest felt during the whole priest = pedophile phase.
Answer, quit complaining and do something. Terrorism is the only popular example the masses have to work with. Get to together and show people that Muslims are not terrorist. Do something positive in front of cameras so the world can see that Allah is not about terror. Be the example.
-best wishes.

I have now become a close aquiantence to a Muslim. I am christian. True Muslims do not advocate anything that is being done now by terrorists. Terrorists are few in comparison w/the millions of Muslims. If you want to hate Muslims, then hate the christians who have also for hundreds of years used religion to murder, rape, and pillage others. Religion pretty much as a whole has had fanatics. Get in line, your's will do something to embarrass you to because of people who use it to hurt others.

It has to be tough when the media splashes "bad Muslim" all over the news every day. It's just like when a Christian preacher gets exposed for having sex with women from his congregation, suddenly all Christians are perverting God's word. Then we have to defend our beliefs also.
Perhaps you could share some of the instructions of peace with us from your holy writings. What most people are aware of is the parts that speak about death to non believers. Help us out here, lead the crusade of peace. Educate us.

I say that anyone who supports terrorism is a terrorist. That being said, the statement is not about muslims, christians, jews, etc., but about the person themselves. I no more believe that all muslims support terror than I believe that all christians don't. Look at Timothy McVey. Look at the supposed "christian" groups that bomb abortion clinics. They are as much terrorists as any. It doesn't say in the christian bible that "Thou shalt not kill unless you think it needs to be done." It says "Thou shalt not kill." Period. End of discussion. Nearly every religion preaches peace, tolerance, and understanding. And another note about christians (only because I grew up in a christian home and know more about it than other religions) my own soapbox addition: Read again the sentence "eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth." This is one of the most quoted christian scriptures when christians justify violence. But, read the ENTIRE scripture (in the new testament): "And oft have ye heard it said, an eye for and eye and a tooth for a tooth. But I say unto thee, whomsoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him thy left (or vice versa, I can't remember). And if a man sue thee for thy cloak, give to him thy coat also." I'm paraphrasing from memory, but you get the gist.
Here is the bottom line. All religions can be twisted to support any position. Individuals can be noble, self-sacrificing, tolerant, and just. People are sheep and follow the crowd. If it is popular to hate a particular race, religion, or culture, by golly, the general public will hate them. I'll say it again with a heavy heart: most people are sheep. They don't want to think for themselves, don't want to question what they hear or see, and want spirituality spoonfed them. They give up authority over their own mind to others with either less than intelligent discernment or less than noble intentions. It's a shame that more people won't stand up and say "Enough! This is crazy. Why should I hate. There is so little time in life. I'd rather be spending it learning and laughing instead of hating and killing." Most people just haven't grown enough yet to say this. Hang in there. I believe in peace, too. We're out here. Our voices just tend to be drowned out by the the ignorant crazies who's only means of getting heard is to scream and shout because there are no intelligent arguments to support their positions.
By the way, I have muslim, christian, jewish, hindu, buddist, and taoist friends that I've learned from throughout the years, and I'm a pagan. I have black, white, japanese, african, hispanic, spanish, and native american friends that I've learned from, and I'm white. No one race, religion, or culture has the exclusive truth. They just sometimes think they do. What a way to avoid responsibility by saying it was God's will or that is how I was raised!

Salaam!
My two BEST friends are Muslim and are Afghan. They are the nicest people I know. I am Christian, blonde, blue eyes... We respect each other and each other's religions. Instead, we focus on what we have in common! Our parents raised us the same way. We all love God.
I know that there are extremists in every religion and that not all Muslims are terrorists.
I agree that there still are people out there that are ignorant and classify. Unfortunaltly, there will always be prejudice individuals and racism.

Ignore people who think like that. Those people over generalize and blame the actions of some on anyone who shares their religious beliefs. They are wrong for assuming that all Muslims support terrorism and our out to kill people.
