GASTRIC VOLVULUS (TORSION) is the condition where the stomach rotates (flips on its long axis) and thereby twists the esophagus and small intestine closed so there is no passage of stomach contents or gas in or out of the stomach.

It's commonly know as Canine bloat and occurs when there is gas production in the stomach and that gas buildup is unable to be expelled via belching or vomiting, or passed through the intestines and out of the dog as flatulence.

GDV = Gastric Dilatation Volvulus
But if the spleen and all intestines were involved as well (not just the stomach); then it's a mesenteric root torsion.

How would you know this is what is going on? Did a vet tell you after examining your dog? If so, ask him what it is called. If not, then if your dog has symptoms he should be examined.
