i learnt this in school not too long ago.
to make a hard boiled, boil the egg for about 18 minutes.
make sure the boiling time is lesser than 30 minutes, unless
you want that greenish-gray ring to form around the yolk called
'ferrous-sulphide'.
the greenish-gray ring isn't poisonous or anything. you can still
consume the egg with that ring around the yolk. it is just that the hard-boiled egg, when sliced into 2 halves will not be as pleasant anymore with that green ring formed.
hope this info helped. :)

I always boil my hard boiled eggs for a little longer than everyone else, to ensure that they are done. I usually boil them for about 15 minutes and then take them out and let them sit for about 5 minutes. They should definitely be done by then. Smaller eggs are boiled a little faster. But I always use the Grade A large eggs. If you don't use them right away, they are only good for about two or three days.

THE EASIEST WAY TO HARD BOIL EGGS

1. Put eggs in a heavy saucepan.
2. Cover with water and add 1 teaspoon salt.

3. Bring to a hard boil.

4. Turn off flame.

5. Cover and let set for 1/2 hour or longer.

They come out just right every time and they peel easily.

When the water reaches a good boiling point, you are suppose to turn the burner off and let the eggs sit in the water for about 20 minutes. Then you can run cold water over them until they are cool enough to peel.

put your eggs in an appropriately sized sauce pan
cover eggs with cold water (just cold out of the tap)
put pan over high heat
turn off the heat as soon as the water reaches a boil
put a lid on the pan
wait 20 minutes
peel and eat hard-boiled eggs.

This is what works for me. Once the water starts boiling, I
set the timer at 12 minutes. My husband likes soft boiled eggs, so once the water starts boiling, 10 minutes. Hope this answered your question. Good luck

Put you eggs in the pan, turn it on when water reaches a rolling boil turn off stove and remove from heat. Cover and let sit for 13 minutes (I wait 15 because I like them cooked well...13 leaves a tiny darker yellow spot in center). Waa-Laa the perfect egg!

10 Minutes for Medium Eggs
15 Minutes for Large Eggs
7 to 10 Minutes for Small Eggs.
I solved that problem at home by buying an Electric Egg Cooker.
Nor more guessing
