I know what you feel - at least I went through my own hell for some time with anxiety attacks. I was so sure it was my time to die. There are lost of techniques you can use to help yourself besides medicine - although be SURE that you are talking to your doctor about getting off what you are on because it can have an addictive physical component - as well as psychological, that can make it worse for you to get off. You might have to be weaned carefully to get off it comfortably.
Some of the techniques that you can be trained in is self hypnosis, stress management, yoga, tai chi, relaxation therapy - there are many of these and lots of ones like these that can help you learn to battle anxiety. Always consider what ever you learn to help you in your life as part of your tool bag - the more info (tools) you add in your bag, the more powerful and strong you are.
People pass into different steps in their lives and these attacks can become worse or better. When my attacks got real bad and I was suffering mightily, I quit my job - job was horrible and stressful. Almost immediately those awful attacks just stopped altogether!! I felt like it was a gift from God and was very grateful.
I hope I helped if just a little. Best wishes and know you are not alone!!

I had panic attacks and anxiety and went on a very low dose of an antidepressant to get me through the worst part of it at the beginning. But I also see a therapist and that helped a lot more in my opinion. I made some huge changes in my life that helped as well. I cut out caffeine and alcohol for a while and made sure I got into bed before 10:00 every night. I made sure I got some exercise every day. I practiced breathing routines and did yoga for relaxation. I used a journal to record things that were making me anxious. I also stopped watching the news every evening because it would get me upset. I watched comedies instead, because it felt better to laugh. These things helped a lot. I don't still do all those things every day- but if I'm having a bad week or something, I go right back into the routine because I know it makes me feel better. The medication was just to get me to be able to function normally because when I first started having panic attacks I was afraid to even leave my house. But once I started working on the other stuff, I didn't need the medication anymore.

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.

Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

Yes. I quit the shitty, poor paying job working with the evil bitches who knew I couldn't punch or scream at them without getting fired so they were rude, discusting and sneeky in a way that I just do not know how to operate as Im honest and in your face. AND... the job with the totally evil customers that felt they had the right to blame you (even physicall attack and verbally assault you) because they over dosed on their pain medication (or just sold them for street drugs) and therefore ran out, before their insurance would pay for more or their doctor would write another prescription.

I walked out on the job therefore, that was causing ALL of the stress that brought about the attack, and I have not had another since.

amazing huh... one for the medical journals!

I honestly hope Megan is roasting comfortably in a dark corner of hell. The thought of her suffering in any way makes me go all warm and fuzzy inside. And that crazy, raving lunatic, red headed customer that used to buy 12 packs of emema's at a time, twice a month... He can got to hell too! Maybe him and Megan are (via the anus) spawning the next antichrist as we speak?

Ahhhhh... see, speak your mind in an atmosphere where you are allowed to and not forced to hold everything in and be a phony politically correct sneeky beeatch that has to take Prozac to function with the rest of the bottom feeders and there you go... no panic attacks in sight!

This is a tough one. Some beleive it is mind over matter and sometimes it is. I was able to force myself through slowly putting myself in stressful situations and making myself work through them. It worked.

I just went through brain surgery this past summer and they have returned. I go into public and I have horriable dizzy feelings, feelings of nausea and shortness of breath. I am now having to relearn how to work through it all with little to no medication just out of personal choice.

I know there is something in the health food stores called rescue remedy but I am not sure if that would be reccommended for someone who is pregnant or nursing. Look into that.

Good luck!

Hi There,

I absolutely know how it feels. The best thing that I ever did for anxiety and panic was to see an NSA doctor. It's like being able to breathe again for the first time. For your health, and the health of your baby, this is my best recommendation.
