I live in upstate NY and it snows. I know activities such as sledding, skiiing, or snowboarding are all fun and stuff but I'm talking about indoor workouts besides DVD's or workout machines. I need to spruce it up a bit so I stay focused and not bored.

Let me know any suggestions that you have! Thanks everyone!

Very difficult to get a good workout inside without machines and DVD's. The basis of exercise began outside or those whose job duties consisted of hard labor work (like construction). To exercise inside is....pointless. That's why there are gyms and one reason why gyms can be pretty busy in the Jan/Feb months!

To keep up your calorie burns in the winter months, without much machine workouts...walk a lot more, use the stairs, etc. Just don't be lazy!

Recreational type centers, or gyms, probably have indoor games like basketball, etc.

As for structured exercise indoors? Machines and DVDs are the best way to go. You could try to do some calisthenic type exercises like crunches and push ups. These are great for overall body workouts. Personally, I don't like DVDs sometimes....I find the exercises I like, do it at my own pace, and with my own music. Look up exercises for areas of the body you want to focus on...whether it be back or legs or arms. You'd be suprised what you can do without the use of ANY equipment. Although, tubing or bands will greatly help.

I know you said no workout dvds, but I have a couple that have really changed up my workout routine. "The Biggest Loser" has a workout video out there that is a lot of fun and easy to follow. I can do an hour of it and not get bored, and I've had that one since January. "Million Dollar Workout" is taught by Mia St. John who is (or used to be) a boxer. This one is a lot of fun, but it's more intense. It's 30 min long, but you get an awesome workout from it, and I love this one. Denise Austin has some great weight lifting moves in her vidoes, but for me her cardio goes too fast and is hard to follow. Besides dvds and workout machines, I don't know what else you could do in your home. Good luck!

Order a Bowflex Video. I change my workouts every two to three weeks. Change the excercises, the type of workout(circuit, strength, body build, aerobic, free with, machines, no work out) etc. Play an indoor sport. Swim.

You could take a look at a few K-nine nostril paintings to furnish intellectual stimulation. Check round to look if there are any agility organizations or fly-ball organizations on your field that experience indoor train locations. You could additionally assess to look if the domestic dog daycares close through have open play days.
