Looking at the calendar, an election is coming up (otherwise known as the 'midterm' elections, where the Republicans are trying to hang on to control of major offices).

Any other reasons than that?
Probably not.

I would guess that soon after the elections, we'll get reports that gas prices have (or are expected to) spike once again, and by summer of 2007, we'll be over $4 a gallon. Brace yourself now, the drop in gas prices won't last very long.

Gas prices should have never been so high. The government conditioned us to accept these outrageous prices by raising the gas to above $3. Now we see prices below $2 and we think we are getting a deal.

It does this every single year. It goes sky high during the summer months when everyone is on vacation doing their travelling then about september when school goes back in session, they drop again. There will be another increase in prices just about the time the holidays get here, then back down again. You can almost set your watch by it. I pay our Wright Express bill for our company vehicle fuel useage and its a repeating process every single year. Its their way of sticking it to us.

The elections coming up, end of summer-blend gas, easing of the mid-east crisis.

But it's all part of the big-oil company conspiracy to give us a breather so we think we aren't being gouged. Next year, I bet they suck over $3 a gallon out of us for longer periods of time.

The oil companies have bought most of the politicians, so it ain't even a good horse-race. Consumers don't have a chance.

The gas always spikes up in the summer. Now that the fall season is here and we get closer to winter, the prices will go down. Next summer though, they will spike back up higher than they were this year.

Elections are coming up in November. But be prepared for the prices to go back up again right after wards. Then they will drop again in two years.

Elections, Republicans have ****** up so much during this year, that they are hoping to make us forget about the bad times and making us realize that if they stay in power, we won't have to worry about high gas prices. So who are you going to vote for ? is the question.

Both parties have bills in congress to explore alternative energy sources. The OPEC nations are dropping the price of crude so we won't feel any urgency to find another viable source. When we're back dependant on them, they'll hit us in the pocketbook again.

Politics, and the gas companies always drop prices when it starts to cool down in weather, so they can raise your at home gas bills instead of your car gas bill.

The price of oil is down, supplies from BP in Alaska have rebounded, demand is down after summer driving peaks.
