Generally overweight/obese poeple live shorter lives.....

This is due to several facts/contributions.....

1. fat holds in toxins that, over time, affect your entire body's functions.

2. overweight/obese people are at higher risk for more diseases (high blood pressure, cancer, high cholesterol) and bodily malfunctions (heart attack and stroke) becuase of their diet and the presence of so much fat/lipids.

3. generally, overweight people do not exersize, further exacerbating their situation.

The amount of time one loses to weight is surprising short considering how much money is spent on diets and programs and gym membership. It can be as little a two months and to reach a life-loss of four months its 100 lbs overweight. I looked that up on one of those longevity websites a while back. One other interesting fact is that more overweight people live to age forty (proportionally)because they are not as a rule risk takers and in that age group most lives are lost due to risky behaviors in driving and drinking and participation in dangerous sports, like skydiving and skiing.

You want to maintain a healthy weight. If by slim you mean skinny, it is not healthy either. Their are different health risks you take for both. You don't want to be overweight, but you also don't want to be skinny either. Stay healthy, eat responsibly, and exercise.

Not necessarily, only when obesity causes sickness.
