At this point there is no cure. (hopefully, things will change in the future). In the meantime, it can be managed with the right medications and the right therapist. Good luck!

There is no "cure" for bipolar. You can take medication, but be warned, you cannot take depression medication for bipolar! It will and does make your mental state worse. The first thing to do is find out if you are depressed or bipolar. I am currently taking Depakote ER 250 (time released). I have taken this for 4 years and it helps me a great deal. It might not work for everyone but nothing is "completely a cure". Depakote is a mood stablizer= it will bring your highes and lowes closer, but there is no "cure" to take it away completely. Sorry, hope this helps.

Everyone is right, there is no "cure", but very effective treatment through meds and counseling- I reccomend both. You may have to try a lot of different med combo's before you find one that works, but don't give up, the results are worth it. Antidepressants alone will NOT help bipolar disoder- just make it worse. Find a doc that knows their stuff and treats you like an intelligent human being.
www.remedyfind.com has a monthly newsletter on bipolar with new research, personal stories and other help that is great.

I wish there was a cure. I have a 12 yr old daughter who got it from her father. Meds help but they never do completely control the problem and you have to go thru alot just trying to find the right ones that help and not end up hurting them more then helping them. Make sure and this is important, make sure whoever is on these meds gets their blood checked often to make sure there is no Liver damage etc. from the meds they are on. One thing that might help you is getting a book that explains it all. I wish I could tell you the one I found but right now it's packed away. But knowing what they are really going through helps out alot more then you think. Oh and for parents going thru this with their children, well good luck because as I know we also have to deal with puberty and there's no meds at all for that problem .

No cure, only treatment, but that doesn't mean that the condition cannot be effectively managed so you can get on with your life. You need a psychiatrist to prescribe medicine and a good psychologist whom you can speak with, the second part is essential as medication alone isn't gonna do it.

there is no cure-- only treatment

support and education are the 2 best "cures" that I can think of

support the person with the disease -- educate others to draw awareness and understanding
