I thought 4. This is from a source that supports that idea. Others said 3. I know if I get a popcorn kernel in my throat it is difficult, so I'd avoid it until your baby matures.
"With its sharp edges and kernel flakes, popcorn is one of those foods that can even get caught in an adult's throat, causing gagging and choking. "I'd say 4 years is the youngest age when you should let a child eat popcorn," says Susan Moores, a registered dietitian in St. Paul, Minnesota and spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. When your child does start eating popcorn, take the bag or bowl away from him after the fluffy stuff is gone. The unpopped and half-popped kernels that fall to the bottom can get caught in your child's throat and block his airway.
Puffed corn snacks are a great alternative to popcorn for younger kids because they don't contain sharp edges or kernels. Look for them in your local health food store. "

my kid is 3 and he still hasn't had popcorn. i don't know why...maybe because there hasn't been an opportunity yet. but i think i would remove the hull too. just the other day i let him have lettuce for the first time. each child is different, my kid had his teeth come in later, which also meant he was chewing regular food later too. and i'm a first timer, so i am always worried about his well being.
good luck. i bet he'll love popcorn!

maximum folk say 3 or so, yet I gave my son popcorn at twelve months. I went through the popcorn first and tediously picked out all the little kernel shell thingies (sorry do not truly understand what they're said as) and he did high quality with it. i guess I opt to flow through the tedium than manage a tantrum because he needs some thing that I received't provide him.

My niece is 17 months and she handles popcorn fine. Just make sure they are able to chew it all properly and watch them carefully while they eat it in case they have problems with kernels.

I started the popcorn as soon as my boy had all his teeth. sometimes i'd take the seed/corn out with my finger... If ur boy/girl loves to eat and swallows down the food wait till he's older. if ur child is cautious let him try it. My boys loved it wasn't a problem.

My girls were both eating it by 18 months but I watched them closely while they ate it. before that I would break the white parts off & give it to them.
