Yes I believe it does. And also depending on the price you pay for it. Of course the cheaper the mattress the faster it will ware and tair. The more expensive the longer it will last.

As the matress gets older, the material softens and the springs begin to sag. This will alter the shape of the matress, making it slightly wider and longer. They do recommend that matresses are changed every 10 years or so, so that your matress does not look too different from when your purchased it.

I think that the problem is with the bed frame. Not the mattress.
The bed frame is getting old. And just like most humans it is shrinking with age, it has not got the strength to hold up a new heavy mattress.
In fact if I was you I would be very careful about the Bed Freame Police. It always amazes me. How quick they cotton on to a distressed Bed.

They are selling you a pack of lies. A good quality mattress should be replaced after 10 years, more so if needed. My advice is go to another bed shop.

they are usually about an inch too short/long round each side to allow for stretching/flattening over time. My old mattress actually started hanging over the sides of my bed as it had flattened too much - yes i am a fat cow!
