Whew...been about 15 yrs since I was in high school so I hope I don't sound like a complete old hag...but isn't it a bunch of kids swaying back and forth to slow songs and kinda loose and crazy during the un-slow songs?
I think my date, and he was a cutie...he wore a shirt and tie with dress pants. Some kids came in with sports coats too. Tuxes are for the big formals like junior ring dance and prom (homecoming was always refered to as semi-formal)
Go to a drive up place for snacks afterward....you know..the kinds of places they put the food on the tray on your window??? We had a blast doing that and of course had a formal dinner before the dance... Good luck and remember, have fun!!!!

Yes...learn to dance. Find out what style of music will be used and learn dances for that.
If the homecoming is formal, you will want to rent a tux
If semi-formal or casual, a suit or maybe just nice trou + jacket and tie .

Try something you would wear to church. Even if you do not go, you have to have something. A nice pair of pants and a dress shirt with a tie. You should be able to dance to a couple of songs, even if they are slow. Go and have fun. My husband can not dance very well, but he tries and I love him for that. A girl wants to be able to dance with her man, even if he is not good at it. She will find someone else to dance with if you are not out there with her.

If you want to be on the dance floor, it would be a good idea to practice your dancing skills. I guess you would need semiformal
clothes, since it is a social occasion.

Sure. You can learn some moves between now and then. Why not? It might add to your fun. I would guess chinos, sport shirt and jacket. It would make you look older and more sophisticated. (Unless you are already old and sophisticated, then I would wear Bermuda shorts, black socks and an Hawaiian shirt).

Yes, you should learn to dance, and real quick...only a week to learn.

Rent a tux.
Buy her a corsage to coordinate with her dress.
