simply "tightening" the stomach muscles is incredibly effective.

when you are sitting at the computer, just "tense" your abdominal muscles and sit up straight, hold that firm position to a count of 10 to 30 and then relax. Repeat as often as you comfortably can.

Also when walking or standing in a cue, just "pull in" your stomach, stand straight and tall, and HOLD that position for a count of 10 to 30 and then relax. Repeat as often as you want to.

Keep in mind you cannot "spot reduce". Your body will lose fat all over, not in specific areas, no matter how many crunches, sit-ups, or push-ups you do.

That having been said, you can tone the underlying muscle and lose weight at the same time, which will help trim and tone your appearance.

I have found pilates to be great for toning the abdomen, there are many pilates studios around, or there are quite a few DVDs as well. Many yoga exercises are also good, and there are some martial arts that also focus on toning and strengthening your core muscle group (abs, pecs and back).

The best exercise you can do is also the easiest. keep your stomach pulled in. Most of us tend to slouch, or let our stomachs pooch out. Anytime you notice yourself letting your stomach sag, suck it in, sit or stand up straight and keep holding those muscles in. Eventually you'll train them to stay in and not sag.

Good luck!

You can't spot reduce fat, so to trim your tummy you'll need to reduce your body fat % which means you're reducing fat everywhere. No single exercise will do this, but simply walking at a decent pace for 20-mins a day can have an impact.

Lie flat on your back and raise your legs straight up in the air with your arms down by your side or if necessary put your hands under your butt at first. Make SMALL circles...50 in one direction and 50 in other direction. Work up to 100 or more and you will have a flat stomach. You can feel it working. Keep your knees straight.
