My girlfriend and I would love to be drunk in Vegas and end up getting married by Elvis. The tackier the better, however we want to then have a proper wedding back in the UK for family and friends. Thing is we will be already married, is there a way to fake the UK ceremonie...?

The only way to do that would be to just have the church ceremony, which is just a blessing. When you do the whole lot in one go, like "normal" weddings, either you have the church ceremony (the blessing) and the legal stuff is then done behind the scenes, or, you have a civil wedding ceremony and then sign "the book" for the legal aspect. So in your case all you have to do is just arrange the church ceremony and no one will ever know (you couldn't do the civil ceremony because that is just a dressed up version of the legal signing of "the book" etc).

This is the moment where the pair of you are going to commit yourselves to each other - why do you both feel the need to be drunk to go through with it? If you decide that you want tacky then Las Vegas is the place for it, and only option would be for a blessing in this country.
I wonder whether this is a true question or just someone messing around.

Yeah, I vote for getting married in the UK first. Unless you don't care about big weddings and all the expense, then do the Vegas wedding you want. I'm with you, I'd do Vegas w/ Elvis anyday!

get married in vegas, its fantastic, then have a blessing you can do all the usual meal and celebrating here, invite everyone but dont tell them untill its over that its just the blessing, or failing that hire an actor to read the wedding vows and hold this at a garden in the grounds of a local council run manor house, {you know the sort, the ones where you can cycle, walk the dogs etch, that way no one will know that it s not genuine.

when i get married i'm gonna have to have a wedding and a blessing cos my dad and his gf won't be in the same room as my mum and step-dad specially wen my dad finds out that im gonna ask my mum to walk me down the aisle and give me away so yer you can have a wedding in vegas and then have a blessing in the uk. im not sure they allow you to get very drunk and married anymore though so look that up aswell as the fact that some places in america require you to hav a blood test done b you get married (my best friend got married in mexico and had to have a blood tast done while out there b4 she was allowed to get married) so just research all the possible angles

have a good day wot ever you end up doing

Just get married in Vegas and have a reception at home. Why fake the wedding. you can have a nice wedding in Vegas it doesn't have to be tacky. or better still let your friend know but renew your vows at the reception with a mini wedding so they can all see you say i do

You can get 2 marriage licenses and 2 weddings. I did the same thing. I eloped first, so my parents wouldn't find out about it. And then we did it again about 2 months later after things settled down a bit. There is no way they would find out. Just get a Las Vegas marriage certificate and hide it somewhere. And then get another UK marriage certificate - they won't know the difference, especially if you do all the paperwork again. Most officiants will also help you out on this one. We just photocopied the first marriage license, and the officiant just signed the fake copy again.

I got married at a Hitchin' Post..and I am having a formal ceremony at the end of October. Our minister knows we are already married. We are just going to go through the whole process, just not sign the paper. Have fun.

I dont know if you can fake one in the UK but maybe you can "renew" the Vegas vows or something like that in the UK. Then, it wont be "fake"

Just get a friend to pretend to be a registrar. Tell your family you dont want to get married in a church, you wanna get married in a hotel/outside/local beauty spot etc. If you did this for real some one from the registry office would just come along. Just pay someone to pretend to be from the registry office.
