find out the gender of your child during an u/s? My husband and I are going to wait until our anniversary (Dec 7). I will be 19.5 weeks along then. Do you think we should do it earlier? Later? Or is that a good time? The u/s tech said she thought that would be really special and a good time. Thanks!

That sounds like a lovely day to try to find out. (Remember that the little one doesn't alway cooperate!)

We found out that we were having a daughter on the day we got married. We went for the ultrasound in the morning and got married in the afternoon. It was wonderful.

(Off topic, but our daughter is 9 months old today!)

20 weeks is the time doctors can be most sure they can tell i think as soon as 11 or 12 weeks but the earlier the less % they will be willing to say thats why most wait i'd go at 19.5 sounds great have fun !

When I had my first they suggested between 20-22 weeks. I waited until 22 weeks so that there wouldnt be a problem determining the gender. However, sounds like you'll be pretty close to that recommended time so I say go for it!!

Good luck.

It would be special! That sounds awesome.

Be prepared to not see anything or maybe see something. Zoe decided she didn't want me to know until 32 weeks. She turned around and crossed her legs. We called her "Schboopy" until we found out she was a girl.

My cousin, on the other hand, had an u/s done and was told she was having a girl. She had a boy. Sometimes things can look like other things- if you know what I mean.

I hope everything goes well with your pregnancy and congrats!

Sounds like a great anniversary gift for yourselves. I've heard of most people finding out at about 20 weeks so its perfect timing. I opted to wait to find out the sex of my daughter until she was born.

Good Luck!

I was 5 months pregnant when we found out we were having a boy. We picked Valentines Day as the day for having our ultrasound. It was the best present ever!

I think doing on it your anniversary will be special.

That would be the perfect time. I've always had my ultrasounds between 19 and 20 weeks. That should be really special for you! Best wishes!

all babies are female untill about the 4-5 mo when the hormones tell the genitals to develop this might be a little early unless they are right on with your due date . however it is a good sentiment ......to do it on your anniversary ...i always said i was going to let it be a surprise but you just cant resist can you

well my doctor wont do an ultrasound on me until i am 19 weeks, i dont know if this is because that is when you can tell what sex it is or just his way of doing things. That is an awesome way to find out the sex of your baby, it will be a nice story to tell! Good luck!
