Honest question, not poking fun or anything like that, although it may seem that way.

When you learned about dinosaur fossils, what were you told (if you were told) to think about them from a religious perspective? Who told you this (i.e. someone at church, parents, etc.)? Do you have any interest in Dinosaurs?

Thanks for your answers! :)

In school: Dinosaurs lived long before humans and died out and no one knows why.
In church: Dinosaurs lived long before humans and died out and only God knows why.

Yes, I find Dinosaur stuff interesting. I am a Christian and don't have any problem with this. Just because I believe in God doesn't mean that I believe that God doesn't or hasn't done a lot more than what we have here. His works are endless, so what is wrong with dinosaurs living on the earth? One thing I think is that Christians get all messed up with time frames in the Bible. What manner of time, and the way time was kept in biblical days may be very different than now. Also, a lot of translations don't use days for the creation, they use "time periods". Anyhow, I don't see why this would be a problem for a christian.
Thanks for the honest question.

I have been told many things in regards to dinosaurs. Some of these hinge upon their extinction from the Flood (Noah - Genesis). Others try to claim that dinosaurs are merely imaginary creatures that never really existed but instead are part of some "apparent age" of the Earth - they were simply put there to make the earth look longer. Still others teach their complete existence.

The Catholic Church does not see any contradiction between the view that God is the creator of all things and the existence of dinosaurs.

At the same time, the catholic Church does not adhere to a literal interpretation of the first two chapters of Genesis.

I got this question:

Hi I am a long time Christian. I had a friend ask me "If God created the world, why aren't dinosaurs mentioned in the Bible ?" I was at a loss for an answer. I know 'wild animals' are mentioned numerous times. Thanks and GOD Bless

I replied:

Friend, the basic answer is "there wasn't any NEED to mention them"...the story is about God and humans, all the animal 'players' are peripheral/background at best...penguins are not mentioned, nor or tigers or elephants, for example...they just don't come into the story line...
Authors chose what they want to include in their background and setting, and the vast majority of ancient history and ancient information is simply unnecessary to the authors'/Author's storyline and message.

I hope this helps some, glenn

The Bible mentions large animals, most likely dinosaurs. It doesn't present any evidence or scripture against them actually existing. It's a strange but widely believed myth that people of faith don't believe in dinosaurs.

There are holes in most of the stories of the Bible. They are there because the things that would have filled those holes aren't important to the story of man interacting with God. If the Bible contained all the details of life and its origins, the Bible would be a very large, impossible to lift book.

I had a friend who was a Seventh Day Adventist who was CERTAIN that Satan had deliberately created and planted the fossils in an attempt to deceive humanity into thinking the naturalist explanation of the world was the right one.

She also refused to buy any sort of life insurance, because she knew the world was going to end very soon and that she shouldn't be "storign up treasures here on earth"....

Amazing that people like this still exist in this day and age, no matter how many condoms you sell....

I have no interest in dinosaurs. I haven't been taught anything bout it beyond elementary school. I believe they existed. somewhere. I don't really think about it, it has no relevance to me. If they were here, God made 'em!

*hugs* Southpaw.

There were no dinosaurs, Satan put those fossils there to mislead people.
