I'm going to get a tattoo today, and it's supposed to be costing somewhere in the vicinity of $160. I don't know if I should tip as well, and if so, how much?

I always tip my guy, makes me more of a priority client and I really appreciate his art! For $160 I would give him 20-25 cash under the table.

Anytime anyone does a service for me i.e. piercing, tattoo, hair stuff like that I tip them. I think its just the right thing to do.

If the tat is 160 I would tip 25-35$$ I think more than that would be a liitle much cause you dont want to tip 80 cause thats half the cost of the tat. And tipping like 50-60 is like getting a small tattoo done so under 50 I think is good.

Yes, it's considered good form to tip if you are happy with the professionalism of the artist and with the artwork. A tip of 15% or more is generally appropriate, and that's based on the total cost of your tattoo. If the guy or girl is absolutely super, tip more.

You can tip whoever you want, whenever you want !! I tip my carpet layer / flooring installer.

My tipping ensures I get the best treatment ALL the time. When I call upon all the people I DO tip... I get right in and things taken care of.

Slipping someone $10 extra is always a nice gesture ! I DO NOT go by percentage. I give what I want. $10 would be fine for your tattoo !

i would say probably, yes, but that is a good question that they don't usually cover in the ettiquette books! it's never a bad idea to tip, it establishes a good rapport between you and the person providing the service (especially if you plan to come back for more tattoos); anyhow, if they don't accept them, they will tell you, and still appreciate the offer. you have to tip hair stylists and manicurists, then why not tattoo artists?
