This is a pretty stupid question. My boyfriend and I were arguing what is healthier Honey Nut Cheerios vs. Plain Cheerios. I love Honey Nut and think the Plain sucks and lacks flavor. He is trying to make me go for the Plain. He thinks the Honey Nut is bad for you and thinks the Plain is healthier. I think they are both healthy and good for you. The Honey Nut Cheerios has 1.5g of fat and the Plain Cheerios has 2.0g of fat. The Honey Nut does have more sugar though. I want to end this and eat the Honey Nut. Can I stick with the Honey Nut?

Well thanks folks for all the responses, except for the sarcastic ones. I know that the Honey Nut has more sugar , but it has less fat. That is why I was asking this question. I think I will go with the mix!

I like to eat the Honey Nut when I eat them with milk.

When I am at work and get a snack craving I like to munch on the regular ol' cheerios as a snack and they are filling.

Cheerios are good for you as a whole. They have alot of fiber and other nutrients that one should need to start their day.

Tell him to eat his plain adn you eat your honey and call it a day!

As far as I know , honey nut cheerios is sweetened by:
honey and sugar.

honey is a natural sweetening agent - so eating honey nut cheerios should not harm u. are u into exercise? if so ... the extra sugar needed to sweeten the honey nut cheerios is not a problem.

apart from this the nutritional value in both plain cheerios n honey nut is the same.
or u cud do this: eat the plain cheerios with a spoon of natural honey over it (that way u avoid the sugar .. which cud be hard to break in ur system if ur not into exercise)

Yes you can eat Honey Nut. If you're debating over which is healthier then the difference is so miniscule it's not even worth comparing when there are far worse things you can eat for breakfast than cereal.

Also, if you're gaining weight from eating too much cereal then something is wrong with your overall diet. In fact, if you ate just cereal all day, you would lose weight very quickly since it's mostly air and toasted oats. The fiber would also cleanse it out of your system pretty quickly so I wouldn't worry about it. What matters more is if you use nonfat milk vs. lowfat with it since there is a lot more fat in milk than in cereal.

Honey nut isin't bad for you but it isin't as good for you as the regular.

Honey nut contains sugars. anytime you can have something less the sugar you are always better off.

However, both contain carbs and Gluten which turn into sugar eventually and your liver and kidneys have to fight hard to process that transformation more so than it would regular old cain sugar so...

The answer is. Have a piece of fruit or a smoothie with some added protein!

Fruit sugar is easily assimilated into the bloodstream and gives your brain the sugar it needs without having to process anything. and the added protein is just what you need.

Smoothie is the perfect food!

Stick to honey nuts if you are counting fat grams. Of course sugar eventually ends up as fat. Either one is healthy compared to pancakes or french toast for breakfast. Cheerios, both of them are great for fighting cholestrol. I prefer Honey Nut over plain myself. If I'm going to have to eat plain Cheerios I'd just as well eat a cardboard box. *aarrgh*

Calories count for a lot. If they're about equal, stick with what you like. You could dress up the plain with sliced fruit. That would add to the flavor and add more healthy benefits as well. Personally, I always mix cereals - usually raisin bran with something else.

did you know there's now a fruity cheerios? It's made with fruit juice and has half the sugar of froot loops. They're really yummy.

Any type of cereal is fattening, because no one just eats A cup lol. I would stick to honey nut cheerios.. i mean if you are going to eat , and have to eat , you may as well enjoy what you eat. Either way, moderation is key.

Eat whichever one you like better. Of course the Honey Nut has more sugar so with that said, just don't eat the stuff every single day. Tell your boyfriend to leave you alone!
