My husband has these two warts on his elbow that keep reappearing. He has used the Dr Scholl's treatments (the liquid, the medicated discs, the freezing solution) and they worked once, where the whole wart came off (it kind of had a cone shape to the end to it). But now they are back and won't budge.
He's gone to the doctor's and had them freeze it a few times. It did nothing. He's told to come back every two weeks to refreeze it. It's such a hassle! Is there anything that can be done at home to get rid of pestering warts?

If you read on, it says that we have already tried store treatments and seeing a doctor. Lighter idea is interesting!

Plantar warts are viruses. But I know you know that by now. Thing about warts, like any virus is that they have the ability to survive many assaults, including freezing.
Unfortunately, the freezing method is probably best, but like any wart, salicytic acid (basically aspirin or wart remover medications) will work too. Warts also need oxygen to survive. So here is my recommendation. (by the way, it worked on the 20 or so warts my nephew had on his feet too).
1. Continue freezing as needed.
2. Add the wart remover medication to the site afterward.
3. Cover with Duck Tape.
Now I know that sounds crazy, but it has been proven that duck tape will kill warts. The secret is...that you can't remove the tape but once a week or so. (or if it happens to fall off, then immediately replace). But the duck tape on...and shower with it...keep it on no matter how ridiculous it seems. Then after a week, pull off and replace again. Repeat this process until the wart and the ugly white spot it leaves are gone. After about 3 weeks it will be gone. Probably before.
Just remember viruses are strong. You just have to be stronger.
By the way, many doctors advocate duck tape too. Just usually you do it to the feet. Should go faster on the elbow. The skin is thick...so it takes more effort than the fingers lets say.

the problem with warts is that they have roots.
any cosmetic "removal" on the visible part may not actually kill the wart.
this is a true story:
one day at school, many years ago, I was feeling bored so I commenced some exploratory surgery on a wart on my hand.
I used one of my mathematics instruments, possibly called a divider (anyway, it had a sharp point). protractor? too long ago!
I found that the skin around the wart had hardened so there wasn't any blood. so I kept digging. then the whole thing came out, and I observed the underbelly....a root system. the wart has never regrown. have fun!

We have tried the over the counter stuff doesn't work as far as I can see. I would get a second opinion and try a different dr.-maybe they do the freezing procedure differently? Depending on the type of wart-I have heard duct tape-never tried but mught be worth the try?

If you have tried both commercially available OTC products as well as going to the doctor, I don't know what to suggest...
When I was a kid....many years ago..
I burned a wart off of my hand using ice cubes and a magnifying glass in the sun....Ice cube to freeze / desensitize it and then burn till it smoked and hurt then back to the ice cube for pain relief..
I burned until I had a little hole where the wart was and it never came back...I believe I was around 8 yrs. old...That was primitive.

Some home remedy is to tape (possibly duct tape) a bananna peel (yellow side against the wart)..something in the bananna peel is supposed to help. For how long _ i AM NOT SURE - GOOGLE "homepoathic remedies for warts" and try to look for bananna peels...you never know.
