After you really meditate and forgive a person, you put yourself in their shoes, try and feel what they do and why they may do and say and act as they do. I thought I'd be happy, or forget about it, but I really pity them. Is it just your conscious mind, or your heart?

jellybean,It is your human emotions & mental concepts. as pure sunlight passing through water crystals divides into the colors of the rainbow, devine UNCONDITIONAL LOVE passing through mental concepts and emotions divides into ,up/down, in/out, positive/negative, & all the ranges of emotional love/hate. First have you found unconditional love within your own heart, you can't give what you don't have. have you forgiven yourself for this same defect within yourself?? then get in touch with the highest love you have ever felt, kiss this person you wish to forgive on the cheek give them your LOVE and pray they may know the love of GOD as you do,tell them you forgive them and release them into the care of GOD. forget it. Well sometimes You identify, and realize that it MAY have been you in "their shoes" other times you may reflect back on how you did actually do bad things... I don't know I mean I guess you should not really feel sorry, it's more or less just a knowing a moving on.....

Can I be forgiven by those who I MURDERED?

Empathy and pity do seem to go together. I think when you're sad it is because the things the other person has experienced are not the same as what you would, and deep inside cannot fathom it and it is piteous and upsetting. It disturbs you.

That's empathy for you, it's a wonderful thing, but can lead to all sorts of emotions.

Still, let yourself feel happy and relieved that the weight of a grudge is off your shoulders.

best wishes

Hopefully because you realize that Holy God has shown you mercy and forgiven you for the very same things that you have forgiven another for. (Assuming you're a believer.)

You hurt for the other person because you love them.
