Alcohol makes people stupid so they are more likely to speak truth against their own self-interest. Alcohol does not generally make people more truthful. It actually impairs human ability to see and recognize truth.

Many times, when a bad event has occured at an institution (like work) people who are suspected of playing a role are intimidated in hopes that they will confess. That may be the dynamic going on here. Just be honest and don't feel threatened. It's part of the process. It's a hard process and all too common. If you get angry enough, then change jobs instead of suffering. Mostly likely, they will find the real culprit and then apologize to you. Another possibility is that they will not find the culprit and it will all blow over in time.

This may not relate to your situation, but I have seen this dynamic quite often. It can cause you a lot of stress since you find yourself in the "hot seat." Plus, the more stressed you appear, the more guilty you look to those around you. It's a sad thing to watch. Keep your cool. Insist on your innocence, and don't think about it unless you are asked specific questions. Volunteer to take a lie-detector test. (This resolved a recent conflict where some money was missing at work and an employee was getting very stressed over being accused.) He was innocent and the lie detector satisfied everyone that he was truthful.

The notion that drunks always tell the truth is laughable. I don't think your boss really believes that. He is just trying to intimidate you and hopes that will lead to some resolution of the problem. It almost never does.

While drunks are far more expressive of their feelings, you must remember these are drunken feelings and typically quite distant from reality. They can be much harsher, more judgmental, more self-centered, and lie without inhibition to hurt others. DRUNKS ARE NOT MORE TRUTHFUL.

Whether or not you did it, it is not the truth that they don't lie. Drunk people have a preconcieved agenda. Just think of everytime someone goes to the bar and gets drunk. What do they really want? The truth is not just the buzz, but t get some action from the opposite sex. The truth is, this person is after your job and everything that person was "feeling" at the time came out in a mouth full of drunken words. I think your boss should use a better excuse to fire you. She sounds like an idiot. Also, get a new job, you don't need that sort of treatment. You do not need to be surrounded by individuals who drink and bad mouth eachother just feel better about themselves.

Well, i don't know about the guy who told your boss about you. But normally people are supposed to speak truth when thay are drunk. As in semi-conciousness you can't generally think ,plan your story and then lie, it's accepted that drunk people never lie.
I hope you understand. You think yourself, when you get up from bed and you are still not 100% fresh and someone asks you a question, if u are not careful, spontaneously the truth will come out of ur mouth.

Supposedly that is true, but they only speak the truth as they perceive it. A drunk, especially someone who is often drunk will likely have very warped and incorrect perceptions.
