Watch dog? Like what type of dog is a good watch dog? You always see dobermans or rots in movies. I have 2 boxers, and let me tell you nothing goes up or down the street without me knowing. They aren't bad barkers. But if they think someone is coming to the door you know it. It all depends on what type you like and how youare going to treat the dog. You can make any type of dog a watch dog if you want to. Police use German Shepards. What are you needing a watch dog for your home to be with your children or a work place? It all depends..

Pit Bulls are NOT good watch dogs.
A good "watch" dog would be something like a chihuahua. They are really good at alerting you to anything that is around.
A watch dog and guard dog are comepletely different. Make sure you know what you want before getting into something.

well i highly recommend u the german shepherd.. it's just the best dog ever.. it's good for watching and also good with family...!!
but if u want a dog only for watching and a very wild dog..so get a pitbull or amstaf!! hope i helped :)
