count slowly from 1 to 10
like this:
1 one 1 2 two 2 3 three 3 4 four 4 5 five 5 6 six 6 7 seven 7 8 eight 8 9 nine 9 10 ten 10
this will relax you, though you may have to do it a few times

Many doctors will say that depression is the result of an in balance in certain chemicals in the brain and medication regulates these chemicals so they are more balanced. I recently attended a seminar on depression that proposed that although depression medications help increase mood thereby increasing ones energy to make the life changes that are "causing" the depression the medications are not the long term answer or "cure". The speaker went on to talk about research that shows life events can cause psychological changes in the brain thereby bringing up the question is the change in brain chemistry a cause of depression or the result of life event(s)? Anxiety symptoms are often coupled with depression symptoms. Often when individuals go on depression/anxiety medications it is suggested that a coupled treatment is counseling. If medications are not the answer for you right now maybe you could try counseling you may be surprised by how much talking (even if it's about small day-to-day stressors) can do. I think it's important that you continue to talk to your doctor about what he recommends and so he can monitor any changes in your mental status but don't give up there are many supports out there (including all natural alternatives, ie. going to the gym, herbs, etc.). The important thing is to stay in check with what you are feeling and seek support if you need it. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

well without the help of meds, it is all mind over matter, positive mental reinforcement..( You are good enough, your gonna do fabulous ) stuff like that...calming breadths...when ever you start feeling anxious..take a break and do some breathing...long walks outside...hot bubble baths ( sweet smelling scents are the best ) music is a huge mood enhancer, so pop in something uplifting and motivating.. I have the same problems, and i don't like drugs because of all the possible side effects so i just find things that work for me. As for the depression, hobbies, keeping your mind and hands busy reading..and well for me shopping is a big depression release, even if I'm not shopping for anything particular, just being out there...when i get depressed and i can't go shopping i rearrange all the furniture in my house and do arts and craft projects.

No, do not take any medicine now. I had an anxiety attack for the 1st time while I was 9 months pregnant and then, a year later, with added on stress from job and family I just couldn't take it anymore. So I went to the doctor. Just put candles up or soak. You may have to see a doctor for medicine after the baby is born. At times, depending on your stress level you may not be able to control it. I would sugest eleminating the stressful people and things out of your life one by one. Whether it is your job, your health and your friends move on and be happy with yourself.

This is not the time to think of getting pregnant. You have enough to deal with; settle down in your new job & new life and do seek therapy and controled meds to deal with your anxiety. I can only imagine that going through a pregnacy under your current circumstances will set the stage for more depression.
Get help and, then, after taking inventory, make your decision about having the baby. Good luck.

When I get stressed- and its usually over family or a work thing, I get yeast infections to cold sores if its really bad- I haven't done that for awhile as I can feel them coming on but camamile tea(spelling)works and chk into kava kava and groups of stress relieving herbs you can get- get a good company- maybe go to GNC or something-- that made a huge diff. for me- also- walking!Exercise helped my stress, my beginning hot flashes,my attitude, EVERYTHING. If you even go for 20 minutes each morn or eve, you will feel like you've accomplished so much more- sounds corny but its so true--- and its been 6 months now and I've lost 35 lbs. You may not want to lose or need too, but you will have a healthier pregnancy and baby and you will get yourself back quicker afterwards---Good luck to you---Children are the best, wonderful adventure you can have in life! I wouldn't trade mine for anything (though I have told them I'm shipping them to Alaska at times!) ;0)

Try square breathing!!! When you get anxiety or are feeling stressed close your eyes, breath in to the count to 5, hold your breath and count to 5, breath out while counting to 5, and hold to the count of 5.
If this is not enough or too much you can lower or raise the count, (count in your mind)
Do this several times, it relaxes your body....
Good luck
