Do I need a program to convert the format and if so what is the best program to use? Can a DVD player recognize files on a DVD-RW or only a DVD-R?

It depends on what DVD player you have and what formats it can read. There are 2 simple fixes for this.

1) Are you closing the disc? If you do not close the disk it won't be able to be read anywhere but your computer.

2) Can your player read it?!? Are you writing DVD -R, +R, -RW, +RW? It makes a difference! Typically the cheaper the DVD player the more formats it's compatible with. Look up your player on-line and see what formats it can read. Also be careful because your burner may be able to only burn just +R/RW or just -R/RW. But most likely if you have a brand new PC that shouldn't be an issue.

As far as could a player read RW or just R. They are essentially the same to the player as long as the session is closed. BUT the session(disc) must be closed for it to be read. This unfortunately renders your RW useless because once the session is closed you can not re-write to it. The only thing to read an open RW disc is the player/computer that it was written from.

Here is a cheap good DVD player that will read a ton of formats.

Had this difficulty too. There are 3 zones interior the international. a million,2,3. those zones are financial defined zones. DVD gamers are programmed with codes for each zone. the actually DVDs have a code that basically facilitates them to be performed in specific zones. some DVD gamers even nonetheless are designed to play any DVD of any of the zones. it rather is a few thing to do with economic gadget and revenues of DVD international. i offered DVDs from Australia and could not play it on my British DVD. regarded it up on the information superhighway and located approximately those zones, so offered myself a fabulous little 2nd hand DVD participant that performs all zones. regrettably it broke final week so would be unable to play my Australian DVDs anymore.
