We work, pay bills, get in a rut. What can we do to help the truly needy of the world? Who do you see as the truly needy?

I am so impressed with all of your answers. You all seem to be truly concerned for your fellow human beings. I like all of your responses. You are truly good people, thank you for your thoughts.

I especially like leaving a bag of groceries at the doorstep of someone I know to be needy, and running. Excellent answers.

My choice as best answer is Mr. Energy Engineer because he found the details of my question, and seems to be doing something about it. I agree the truly needy are the children without water or food. So, to Energy Engineer - thanks.

P.S. I checked out your site, Thanks. Hope this works out - it is a great idea.

Well...

First of all... Thanks for being a responsible human and care for OUR world!

Second... It's doubtless the best question I'd seen since I participate in Yahoo! Answers...

Even the detail "in a good way"... has a truly intense character in the question itself!

Because, has some of us know... many cultures are OK with their "situation"!

So... "in a good way"... let they stay as they are! :)

...

I read all the above answers... and I was a little receptive with some of them!

If anyone who's above, would ever read this... I'm sorry for the criticism... but I think in a different way!

And, here's my opportunity to talk... It's a FREE SPEACH "forum"... and I don't mean to hurt anyone feelings...

I believe anyone who answers this kind of questions... "Civic Participation Category" are all grown up and can accept some critics!...

But If anyone get his/hers feelings hurt... please... my apologies!

For instance... LeighAnn... your answer, was pretty good... but, is it entirely true!? Only those whom you refer are the one who need help "changing their worlds"!?

About the donangelo answer... I can only say one thing... neither all the people who needs help... (and even those who participate in Y! Answers) believe in Jesus... but it was another great answer!

Turboweeg... excellent!... sometimes a smile worth more than a buck... but... smiles won't help those who really needs help...

FastFred... It's nice to have someone like Saul Alinsky in the neighbourhood... you certainly feel good about it!... You know that there's someone who can help you! And It's an example of how someone can change the world!

And... I won't talk about anyone else...

I'll talk about what I really think about changing the world!

Occasionally, I created a Group that is called Help Our Children... (if you want, you can take a look and post a message: check it please: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/helpourchildren/)

My desire is to create a foundation to help the really needed ones... the thirsty... the hungry... and the homeless... but mainly... the children! But, for better understanding, please visit the link above!

Those ones, that can't do anything for themselves... and I'm not talking only in US or in the developed countries... I'm also talking about those who live, for instance on the sub-saharan desert (Africa).

I won't talk about the food... but water... the BlueGold... do you have any idea that there people who lives in this WORLD with less that a US Gallon of potable water per YEAR!?

...

Just for answering your MAGNIFICENT question... who I see as the truly needy!? These kids, who can't do anything for saving themselves... and in many, many cases... dies with thirst!

To all of you, who read this...

Have a great day!

I help the needy I see when I see them The best way to live your life is to stay on schedule. Maybe you will figure out what that means. Everyone who has a mind to can do their part to improve the world, but it will never be a Utopia as long as people are in their present level of Evolutionary development.
As long as we are animal oriented we will have problems. Evolutionary stages are not sharply defined. It is an ongoing process of constant Change. I know that is an anomaly, but Change is really the only constant in this Universe.
Whenever I see a man or woman who is obviously down and out, I flip them a twenty. Some of them cry when I do that, but they have to know someone cares.
I can tell the difference between a loser and a Homeless person who is homeless by no fault of their own. I was homeless after WWII and slept in my brothers car for two weeks. I borrowed the car, so he never knew I was living in it. I had just received my Discharge from the Marines at that time.
Do what you can to help people and you will have done your share.

I would appreciate it if you bible thumpers would stop advertising your religion. I can abide what men do in the name of Evil, but protect me from what They do in the name of good. I don't see that the world has improved over the past two thousand years, just the opposite. The more we learn the less we know.

Yes, we all have the power to change the world for the better. It doesn't necessarily have to be directly helping the truly needy. Small, random acts of kindness. Give to charity. Give a smile to a person who needs it.

Every day, you have the opportunity to make the world a little bit better. This is perhaps God's greatest gift to us.

Absolutely. Just by being positive you can make a difference. Think if your kids see you being positive then they will be positive, etc etc. Do nice things for people without expecting anything in return. Give back to society. It makes a difference, it's made a difference in my outlook on life.

Yes, one person can make a difference especially if he or she organizes others to make positive changes in their community. Saul Alinsky is one example of such a person but there are many others.

governements will never accomplish what as individuals we do to other human beings in a one to one way. Take a few minutes find a hungry family or a poor one whos struggling then go pay on their electric or buy some groceries and leave it on their door step, ring the bell and run.

The truly needy are the ones who only work, pay bills and can't get out of the rut. My solution...get yourself out of the rut and take a few people with you.
