Doesn't mean much to me really. God could have caused the Big Bang. The Bible doesn't say HOW He created everything. I think Science meshes with Scripture on a level we can't even comprehend. I honestly don't see the competing theories as mutually exclusive.

God is not a deceiver, He is the truth. Science pursues the truth, about creation and nature and existance. In other words, science tries to understand what God did and how.
Here is another description of creation in the bible, more scientific rather than poetic.
“The Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I have been established from everlasting, from the beginning, before there was even an earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth; while as yet He had not made the earth or the fields, or the primal dust of the world.
When He prepared the heavens, I was there, when He drew a circle on the face of the deep, when He established the clouds above, when He strengthened the fountains of the deep, when he assigned the sea its limit, so that the waters would not transgress His command, when He marked out the foundations of the earth, then I was beside Him as a Master Craftsman.” -- Proverbs 8:22-30
How would anyone back then know that the Earth had a beginning? Until the “Big Bang” was accepted, most people believed in an eternal universe.
How would anyone back then know that the mountains arose and were not created when the Earth was created? I do not think this took one day. The primal dust sounds like atomic particles. Who else in 4,000 BC spoke of this? How long did it take to prepare the heavens? Again, it does not sound like one day.
Figuring out how to set limits on the waters and the foundations of earth sounds like a powerful science, and maybe even some trial and error.
Who is the Master Craftsman that worked with God?

I believe the "Big Bang" to be only a fraction as well. It could have very well formed in the manner in which science explains, however, I believe that God caused it to form and created all the matter that would have caused the "Big Bang". My question always comes back to science as, but where did all the matter, gases, etc. come from in the first place? How was it so perfectly formed by chance and how is DNA so complex and perfect? So, I do not rule out all theories of evolution (I do not believe we came from apes though) or the big bang, but it all keeps coming back to, how did it start in the first place.

I've personally never had a problem with science that doesn't contradict my faith, and the majority of science doesn't. Many atheists seem to think it does, but the Bible just doesn't have a ton of details about many things. Grey areas leave room for explaination not doubt, in my opinion. As I recall from highschool, most science is considered theory or theoretical, that also leaves grey areas for me. Why the two can't mesh or must clash is beyond me.

until we stand before GOD we will not have a full picture- there will always be holes in every story. Science or Biblical. If you have faith you believe if not then you are still searching. IT is a never ending search for the " truth ".
The big bang happened because GOD spoke it and bang it happened. I do not dispute what science teaches us but I do know without GOD we wold not be.
My God loves everyone and wants us all in His presence one day.

If you are looking for the scientific theory for the beginnings of the universe, don't look in the Bible.
Broaden your perspective by actually reading scientific journals which discuss this subject.
The Bible is a great book with riveting and compelling parables which help establish a moral compass by which we can measure ourselves, but It has nothing to do with science.

What it means to me...
The enemy has thinly veiled his lies and calls it science.
However...God is the greatest scientist...look at all He has created...from the simple to the extremely complex. On some things, He still has us stumped!
I love that people have theories. Just remember they are just that; theories; no facts.
I'm thinking when all is said and done...God will reveal everything He wants us to know.
