my boys are 16an 18 they have thier friends round and have privacy in the home they do not feel the need to wander the streets with mates looking for trouble are house is sometimes like a youth club but at least we know what they are doing more parents should take resposibilty for there kids not just dump them on the streets so they can have there own space after all what did they have a family for in the 1st place

It is very unlikely it will make any material difference. While teens contribute to a fair amount of petty crimes (and some serious crimes), the vast majority are committed by adults.
Also, since teens who are committing crimes are not following the social rules in the first place, even under curfews, they will likely to be out or find a way to commit other crimes that will ultimately affect our safety.
Besides, how are we ever going to enforce this? It'd be a violation of multiple laws and principals of free society if we really try to enforce this.
I believe curfews are only suited for crowd control in extreme disasters and emergencies where just being OUT for any group of people will give authority the right to question them. (and only as a temporary measure)

Kids under 18 should not be out after 10-11 o'clock, unless accompanied by a RESPONSIBLE adult. For the most part, they are still in school. Most of the people that are against curfews ARE teenagers, who in all their wisdom (pun intended) don't yet understand how the real world (not MTV's) really works. When they finally mature, they too will realize the importance of curfews...

No, I do not believe this. I think it would be better if ALL people were curfewed, otherwise if NONE were curfewed. If you are going to limit someone's freedom, thyen do it to everyone or no one. It just makes sense to not have a "curfew age". The police have enough on their minds already; a minority curfew is not a top priority(at least it better not be).
If a curfew were initiated, 9pm is way to early. I would shoot for a time of at least 11pm or midnight, that being the top crime hours.
I think if curfews were imposed based on criminal records, that would make more sense. In my town, a minor who is on probation for a crime has a curfew of 8pm. Otherwise, A minors curfew is 10pm. Staying out late is a right, not a privelage. I wish some ppl would get that through thier thick heads. Just because we are minors doesnt mean we are not trustworthy!
Plus, imposing a curfew on all ppl under 18 is simply unfair. Try somethin like this: Curfew of 9pm on ppl under 13, and curfew of 11pm on ppl 14 to 18.
And anyway, parents set curfews, not the police. It's for parents to decide matters like this. There is no need for governmental intervention. I am grateful that my parents set a curfew of 10pm on me. It's so I dont get kidnapped, or assaulted.

do you have children, teenagers? no?
and if you do of course its every ones Else's kids causing the problem i bet?
parents set curfews, not the government, how much control do you want the state to have?
Adults cause as many problems and we were teenagers once, also my daughter is 19 and works till 10pm, does she apply for a special pass to be on the street?

I think that there should be a curfew later times for older kids... Where are these kids parents do they not worry when their kids are not home at a certain time anyway??
I know i worry if my kids are not in or home at a certain time !!
Its about time some of these parents actually had to put up with their own kids instead of making us put up with them !!

first of all, tis not just the under 18's that cause the problem, ever been outside some pubs at throwing out time? do you want a miltitary state? besides people often breach curfew orders when made by the court, dont you think the police have enough to do with ASBO'S and the like already?

I'd love it. We also need to be allowed to physically detain these little monsters when we see them commit crimes.
I live in a decent neighborhood, yet these spoiled brats still think that vandalism is fun. They kick out garage windows, scratch and dent cars, tear down people's decorations, pull up their plants, etc. And, there's nothing you can do unless you want them to target your home next.
I'd like to see some serious legal difficulties for these punks. I'm sick and tired of mommy and daddy getting a lawyer to get their kid out of trouble. When I was a kid, my parents always threatened twice the punishment of anything the school or law might do to me. I believed they meant it, and because of that I never had to find out.

Under 18's should be tucked up in bed by 7.30pm at the latest. My daughter was. Didn't do her any harm.
Mind you, she's now in bed by 5pm with her evening trade.
