I am not trying to be mean but it looks as if they see thierselves as a God or something all powerful. Would it be safe to say it is a form of religion to focus on yourself,,you worship yourself..Just random thoughts going through my head..Put in your thoughts..

Jesus tells us at John 8:44 that those who don't follow Him are children (followers) of Satan:

"You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it."

Consider the fact that Satan himself thought he was superior to God (Isaiah 14:13-14). It is no wonder that his children think the same. Pray for them, that they realize before it's too late just who it is that they follow.

Peace and blessings.

Just because your focus is not on god does not necessarily mean an automatic focus on self. In fact, I can turn your premise on it's head. How?

Given that the religious look to god at every turn, as in, "It's god's will," (something negative happens) or "Praise god," (when something good happens) this pulls focus away from the community. It also negates the real world source of the event, be it good or bad. This can have a devastating impact on the cause of something like the latest school shooting in Amish country. By focusing on god rather than the individual who perpetrated the ghastly event, the elements that lead to the shooting are diminished. This makes the chances of it happening again to new innocents, that much greater.

So I must disagree with you. If you have no belief in a god, you can focus your energy and personal effort for positive change on the community at large. There is no automatic, knee jerk response to events. No blanket statements like, "God works in mysterious ways." Instead, you are able to cast a discerning eye to all the elements which created the event, come to a conclusion, and "act" accordingly. In short,

Not having a belief in a god does not necessarily carry with it a propensity towards narcissism. It can create an individual who sees how he/she can serve family, community and country, in order to work towards making this world a better place.

Try again, buddy: I serve my country. I wish some one would explain to me why some people think that if you are not religious you have no morals... Because, that's basically what you are saying here, right?

Also, it seems to me that most religious people are just serving themselves.. For example: Who is the more righteous; the person who does what's right for fear of God and wanting to go to heaven or the person who does what's right only because it's the right thing to do... Think about it.

You could say that.

You could also say that when you serve God you are serving yourself as well, because I am a more happy person the more I live in Gods design than when I do not.

Peace!

Let's not kid ourselves -- even those claiming to be "serving god" are only serving themselves, offering their "whorship" in order to butt-kiss their way into heaven or avoid a spanking from their Invisible Sky Daddy™.

And as far as being self-focused goes, how eogtistical is it to assume that:

(1) You are the pinnacle of all creation,

(2) The entire universe exists for your benefit, and

(3) That an infinitely powerful and intelligent being, who can have or do anything he desires, is sitting around by the phone waiting for YOU to tell him you love him?

Sure it is, we are to serve the true God, and him alone. The bible clearly states this. It's like anything else, whatever we make our master, that's who we serve and we all know, there are plenty of people who only serve and think of themselves. God is a jealous God. And oh please, all you people out there, don't take that out of context. All he is saying is, he does not want to share us with any false Gods that are out there, plain and simple! Let's not complicate things.

Yes, that could be one way to look at it. Since the bible says we are to be less of ourselves and more of Christ, made in his image I think that is a very true statement.

Satan was thrown out of heaven for pride, and for saying I will do what I want.
Is that what we do when we are disobedient to God, just doing what we want?

First off if you are not serving God, Then you are serving Satan. Satan can make it look like your are being self-serving but you are not. Satan have one mission and that is to prove God wrong about all issues. And believe me when I say that Satan, Does not care if this entire world fails and fall's with his entire domain.

Just because you don't serve god, doesn't mean you only serve yourself. I don't don't think that God or anyother god exists but i still help people.

Yes, I would say that. Everyone is serving and worshipping something wether they realize it or not. If it isn't God, it could be ourselves, rock stars, heros, Satan, etc.
