Some coffee lovers swear that washing the pot out with soap every time makes the coffee taste bad. It's probably ok to switch off rinsing with washing with soap....and don't forget to de-scale regularly!

I rinse my carafe after each use and give it a good scrub once a week with dish detergent and hot water. Then every few months, I run a little vinegar through the coffeemaker. Be sure to dilute the vinegar with enough water to reach the coffeemakers full capacity i.e. 12 cup. Run clean water through the system a few times to rinse out all the vinegar and you have a clean coffee maker. Also, I found using bottled water reduces build-up in my machine.

Rinse it out!!! That's disgusting. Do you wear underwear more than once without washing them because they still look clean? Of course not!!! So it's the same with the coffee pot.
