I'm doing a project about Central Europe and wanted to include a section about what people of about my age are into and its very hard to find! Does anyone know if i-Pods are all the rage and what music is cool? What magazines do people read? What movies are popular at the moment? I'm looking for info about clothes, food, electronic equipment. What brands are really popular -can anyone help? I would also like to know whether you apply to competitions - or if there are any and if you have ever won anything - especially if it came from a Western brand. I know thats quite a random question but have just read a report and would like to compare findings.

Yeah, I m from Turkiye but u wrote a lot except where u r from.

Turkish teenages 16-25 especially in the big cities(Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir) are approx living as the European teenages. Listening fifty cent, wearing Diesel jeans, coffee in Starbucks, etc. They do what they can with their money. But we have a big problem in Türkiye, our govn is not same as the European govns. Still we are working for our govn, I mean, in Turkiye govn is not for the public, unfortunately public is for the govn. So, our teenages are living with worrying about their future, not like in Europe. As u understand, to worry about the future all the time makes the life boring.

I m 31 y/o, married for 3 years and I have a good job in foreign trade, I m a self-employer working alone in my own office and earning good money. I mean I rescued myself but I m worrying about the others.

Sorry, I changed the dimension of your subject, but for me, Turkish teenage means unfortunately future phobia. Good luck...

Cantona gave a very true & honest answer. Kids are pretty much into cell phones (especially Nokia), hanging out together, going to the movies, watching the latest dvd's, playing the latest video games etc. But it's true, they do have to worry about their future. I don't know many teens who have weekend jobs as they are supported by their parents, but those who I know of that do work generally have given up going to school earlier than their friends in order to earn money to help support their families. However, in Bodrum there is still a bit of 'old Turkey' compared to places like Ankara & Istanbul. Hope this helps.

Yes,there are many people living like europeans but these are specific groups in certain places. You can see a synthesis of Western and eastern cultures in many places. Most of the young people listen to turkish music and english music, they eat sometimes in "burger king" sometimes in a "kebab"restaurant. There are many popular american movies in theaters but usually Turkish movies have a greater box office success.
