In a rice cooker, you use equal amounts of water & rice, so that's 1 cup water & 1 cup rice. If you want your rice with a bit more "umph" use a little less water. In that case it will be trial & error until you get the texture you want.

Recipe for Spanish Rice: in a medium or large pan put about a cup or more (depending on the amt of rice your cooking) vegetable or canola oil put your rice once the oil has had a few seconds to heat brown your rice to a medium brown color add water to go over the rice a little bit(and be careful b/c the steam is strong) add 1/2 can of tomatoe sauce add your spices: cumino, garlic salt, season all, regular salt, pepper and some yellow onion let is simmer and cook with the lid on (occasionally checking and stirring the rice) add water as it dries and this takes about 25-35 minutes to cook! Delish!!!

Is there a cup that came with your rice cooker? They usually mean that you measure the rice with that cup and the water should be measured based on the lines on the rice cooker. If that's not an option, read the rice bag, they have suggestions on there.

Here's how I do it. I put one cup of water for every cup of rice. Then, add a half cup of water at the end. So if five cups of rice, then I would add 5.5 cups of water. 3 cups of rice, then 3.5 cups of water. This seems to work. Hope it helps.

i think i know what you are talking about and i too enjoy rice that way, no soggy , no mushy.
try using a cup and a quarter cup of water to every cup of rice. i found this combo to work out for the type of rice you seek.

Usually, they call for twice the water as rice. Are you cooking it too long perhaps? I don't use a rice cooker, so I am not sure if the recipies are different!
