He's had a bad year and I want to get him something special, but I'm not particularly well off. He's into motorbikes (racing more than harley davidson type bikes), steam trains, warplanes, DIY, gardening, animals, punk music. ANy ideas would be much appreciated.

Get him a gift card to his favourite motorcycle store or even just a 50 pound gift card from American Express (or similar) that can be used at any store he desires--put something in about "a pound for each year he has been here" and tell him how much he means to you...make him a cake or cupcakes with mini mohawk hairstyles on them to represent his punk side!

Buy him the newspaper from the day he was born. Daily Mirror do a special edition bound book containing a paper from the day he was born along with the paper from the day he was married with his name in gold leaf on the front - looks smart and your dad will love looking back throgh them at the old ad's etc.

Get a photo of his favourite bike one he loved and has owned and then go to a photocopying place and get a colour one done and framed. I did this for my hubby and it is one of his favourite pressies otherwise get him a voucher for a track day.
