I am a shy guy!....so I will try to answer.
Take the initiative!....propose conversation subjects.
Ask questions....but also play jokes, all within a friendly environment.
Be persistent!...let him know you are interested...just because one date didn't go well, or the guy didn't talk much that doesn't mean he is not interested.....therefore keep trying several times until you gain the shy guy's confidence....only then will he speak freely!....

All you have to do is basically talk to them.. If you do then they won't have a reason to be shy around you.. I find that the shy guys are what to look for because they are soooo intense about there feelings. but that's just preference..

so why dont you try talking to them help them open up, now you both cant be shy, cuz if you are nobodys ever going to make the move. if you really like that guy start talking to him get to know him

Well just talk to them give them little hints that you like them, that way they will notice it and feel secure enough to make a move.

I have the same problem too! BUt, what I do is get them by them self and talk to them. dont write no notes and dont have someone go up to him just go up to him yourself then yall hang out and he well warm up to you.
