My business partner wants Windows XP for her Windows 2000 system; I want to stick with Windows 2000 on mine. We've got a router that connects us both currently. Are there any modifications I need to make to let these two play nice together?

They are both part of the NT WinOS architecture, and should function together.

Microsoft is phasing out support for 2000, so you may have to do things like manually upgrade your IE and perhaps other features in order to continue to get critical security updates.

XP has the advantage of greater industry support.

Both can be made reasonably secure, although opening up shares is a bit of an invite for trouble if you are also on the internet at large.

To peacefully coexist, you NTFS fileshares and restrictions.
