It seems like they turn into a different person... It's one of the mysteries that has been troubling me for some time. Why does the period affect a woman’s emotions?

When a woman gets her period, a lot of things are going on inside her body. Estrogen levels rise, hormones go crazy and this can affect her moods . The endometrien lining of the uterus that has been accumilating all month is being shed, which causes some pain and discomfort. This in itself is enough to make someone not be as happy as normal, as you feel like someone is ripping your insides out with their bare hands. Then there is the bloating and weight gain of 2 to 3 pounds, and your clothes dont fit right and you feel FAT. The changes in hormones can cause a woman to feel sad, crying for no apparent reason, and to be extra sensitive to things others see as no big deal. Some women have it so bad they can hardly function when on their periods, some cant get out of bed or go to work. Hope this answers your questions.

It's unfortunately the hormonal ups and downs - but it affects every woman differently. Until I was in my thirties, I wasn't affected at all by this. Having a period can bring the pain of cramps, too, which is no fun. Also a trying period is that some women get PMS - pre-menstrual syndrome - about a week before their period they get moody. To help you men out, we know you can't really understand, but just be nice to us when we are not nice to you --- and get us some chocolate, would you? Thanks for caring, dude!

It's called PMS - pre-menstrual syndrome. We have changes in the hormone levels in our bodies. This causes mood changes. We can also have bloating, cramping, and other symptoms - these things can make us cranky too. Menstrual cramps are nothing to joke about, they can be very painful.

because we have an increase of hormones in our body, it even raises the temperature of us slightly. You men are so lucky we only feel well 3 weeks out of every month

A combination of hormones, pain and the fact that they can use these as a reason for their behaviour

Have you ever had really bad gas cramps? Were you in a good mood? I would imagine it's like that for a couple of days.
