Within the past few weeks my son's eating habits have changed. The foods he used to like he turns his nose up now and his appetite has slowed down. Is this normal or should I be concerned. Is there anything different I can try with him.

When children hit the age of one mark their growth tremendously slows down. So they do not need alot of food as they are not growing. As long as the child is active at the same level as before then he or she is fine. If you are finding your child is lethargic take to MD to be assessed for infection etc.

At this age the child isn't looking at food for nutrition but for comfort. Keep offering different foods till he or she picks what he or she like and work from there. My 1 year old only eats Cheerios, Milk, Grapes and Blueberries and if you look at the nutritional content of these foods she is receiving all her necessary nurtrient. For example, mixing a carb product (like cheerios with milk is the equilivent protein content as a serving of a real meat source).

my son does the samething he might just have to be in the mood for the foods that he is now sticking his nose up at my son does that sometimes he will eat them and sometimes he wont. Maybe try a different time feeding him is the during the morning like breakfast hours that his appetie is slower or all the time my son does not eat lot that much anymore either sometimes he eats breakfast and does not really eat any dinner so i think it is normal just be concerned when he does not eat at all at any time. And you get drinks too to help him get the nurtiance he needs. and just keep trying different foods with him you will find one that he really likes i found out my son likes ham but i do not know how long he will like that for lol it is just the way they are. so i would not be too concerned. but if you want to talk to his doc about it go for it. Nothing wrong with asking the doctor questions.

I have a 1 year old daughter, and she is eating differently too. She doesn't eat baby food at all anymore, except for the fruit and I have found that she likes the Gerber oatmeal with mixed fruit and cereal crisps. Other that that, I let her eat pretty much what we are eating. As long as she can feed herself, she is happy. If your son is like her, she is too excited to stop and eat, with all the new things they are learning. As long as he isn't losing weight, don't worry too much about it. Good Luck!

let him eat what ever he wants. At this age they change what they like every week. My daughter only ate mac and cheese and chicken nuggets for the longest time. She also will go weeks eating everything then just stops! and wont hardly eat at all. I try not to make a big deal, I don't want her to have food issues.
