You're being overly uptight. The kids can play in the back yard.

You can't really do anything about where they choose to park on your street unless they are blocking your driveway. If they block your driveway, just get them towed away after a warning or two. If you lived in a big city their would be different people parking in front of your house everyday. However, if you have proof that a certain car is scuffing up the street with oil maybe you could try getting its license plate and reporting it to the town, the Department of Motor Vehicles or the epa. Polluting the environment is a serious issue. The only thing I can say is maybe mess up their plans a bit by parking in front of you r house once in a while with your own car. Good luck.

I don't know. This is a tough one. The street is for public parking, but I am often annoyed by the same thing. I have a neighbor who has several teenage children, and they own six cars. The parents park in the driveway, which is across the street from me, and you guessed it! The kids' four cars get parked across the street in front of my house. As they are teens learning to drive, they frequently go up over the curb and tear up the grass at the edge, and their cars leak oil quite a bit. They also have an annoying habit of pulling into my driveway to turn around and head out, when it would really be simpler if they would park in front of their own house facing the right way! I have talked to them repeatedly about not flying into my driveway to turn around, as I have four children who are frequently playing out there, and have a right to do so without having to worry about being run over by a teen driver. I was told I couldn't do anything about them parking in front of my house, and even though they shouldn't, there is no way to enforce them not turning around in my driveway unless one of the kids is injured! It is quite frustrating. One of my friends told me to put nails on the driveway where I pull in, and only remove them when I pull in or out. This wouldn't be safe for my kids, or I might have actually tried it!!! Try parking in the street for a few days where they are parking so that they get in the habit of parking elsewhere. Sorry so longwinded!

I have the same precise problem. And I worry that one of my kids will be playing outside, somehow scratch the offending car, and cause an incident that will end up being my liability. I've tried to get them to park elsewhere, but I either just get ignored or they say they can park where they want on the street.

NO u are not being uptight...
I had the same problem in the past....Everytime someone parked on my side I would go and knock on the next door neighbors door...and, then finally they got sick of me...
Yes, they do have a right of easement...but, I
feel if you want a good relationship with your neighbor you shouldnt park on their side...
good luck

Unless you live where you have an Home Owner's Association, there's nothing you can do about it except try to park there before they can. :)
Sorry, I have the same problem.

Yes, the street is public property. Usually neighbours have an "unspoken" agreement of who parks where. Maybe casually mention it to them over the fence one day....

No offense, but you are kind of making a mountain out of a molehill here. The street is public property and unless you specifically need those spaces for something on any given day, then it can be used for parking by any resident living in the close vicinity.

actually, the neighbor is being inconsiderate, but it's pretty common. Just try talking to him, not much else you can do.

You are right! You're not being uptight! Just politely tell them to stop parking in front of your house cuz...well...it's YOUR house and not theirs.
