what good is a cat without claws? it can't kill rodents, birds, and it can't defend itself versus other cats and predators such as raccoons.

if he lives indoors and does not have enough chance to wear down his own claws (with toys, places he can scratch and so on) then yes, it is a good ide, because too long claws are not healty, it may start to grow into his paws and coud then get inflamed. still be careful, because there are some bloodwessels in his nails, if you trimm it for too short then it may bleed. i recommend that you take the cat to a vet for the first time just to see how to do it, then you can do it at home:)

If you know what you are doing. If not let a vet do it for you. Cats have a blood vessel in the nail that can easily be cut if you don't know what you are doing and this can cause some serious problems.

I wouldn't. You can hurt your cat and they would probably scratch you up in the process. That is something for a vet to do. The vet usually does that during a normal checkup.

Yeah, I just did it to our new cat last night. Make sure that you dont get the quick as they will bleed and probably never let you touch their feet again. I only cut the sharp tips just to be sure I didnt hurt him.

no never. if you do it will bleed, cats need their claws to beable to climb and have grip. it is possible to trim them back but you need get it done by a vet. he will basically burn them back so it wont bleed. but its best not to do it.

If the cat will let you, why not? Vet techs do it all of the time. They even shave cats.
