The Depressive Personality Disorder is not yet recognized by the DSM Committee. It makes its appearances in Appendix B of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, titled "Criteria Sets and Axes Provided for Further Study." It is not clear in what way is the Depressive Personality Disorder different to other depressive illnesses, such as Dysthymic Disorder.

The Depressive has pervasive and continuous depressive cognitions (thoughts) and behaviors. They manifest themselves in every area of life and never abate. The patient is gloomy, dejected, pessimistic, overly serious, lacks a sense of humor, cheerless, joyless, and constantly unhappy. This dark mood is not influenced by changing circumstances.

The Depressive's self-image is distorted: he holds himself to be worthless, inadequate, a loser. His sense of self-worth and his self-esteem are invariably and unrealistically low. This borders on self-hatred and self-abnegation. The Depressive chastises himself unnecessarily. His inner dialog (sometimes verbalized) is derogatory towards his self, blaming and self-critical. Freud called this inner judge the Superego. The Depressive's Superego is sadistic, unrelenting, unforgiving, self-denigrating, and, ultimate hatefully self-destructive. Dimly aware of this semi-suicidal streak, Depressives are naturally anxious and prone to excessive worrying and brooding.

The Depressive extends this propensity to humiliate and punish to his nearest and dearest. His masochism is complemented by equally exacting sadism. He is negativistic, passive-aggressive, critical, judgmental, and punitive towards others. Such recurrent outbursts are followed by feelings of remorse and guilt, often coupled with maudlin and prostrate apologies.

Bipolar and Borderline Personality Disorder are very identical and generally misdiagnosed for each and every different to start with; they proportion many features i.e. temper swings, anxiousness, sucidal ideation, and so forth. Depending on how lengthy you could have honestly had bipolar (now not how lengthy you could have been identified; you could have bipolar for a time earlier than prognosis) you will have learnt 'coping ideas' to your temper swings, those would possibly now be side and parcel of your persona and could want remedy to 'unlearn' those coping ideas. Also there may be a few debate over precisely what explanations borderline persona; it has constantly been assumed to be a mental sickness that's 'learnt' whilst younger; while bipolar is an healthy sickness stemming from an irregular mind chemistry. However a few researchers feel that borderline persona is at the cusp of being a temper sickness. I feel you will have to quit stressful approximately the prognosis for now; evidently if the drugs aren't running to this point, you haven't but reached a degree of steadiness. And till that's completed you'll now not realize what your actual 'persona' is like; it's inconceivable to understand your persona at the same time you're nonetheless volatile: if the meds are running you're now not steady complete quit. You also are best 15, your mind hasn't stopped wiring itself but; it's all of the extra pressing that you simply attempt to uncover a remedy that works for you, or else it can be tougher to regard any persona sickness (and they may be able to arise with bipolar). Just attempt to move with the distinct combos they present, it might take many years and plenty of path and blunder to uncover the meds that give you the results you want. All the satisfactory xx

There's two kinds of depression, namely: depression and clinical depression. One is a biological or physiological disorder where the brain is not working right, another is caused by outside influences such as the death of a cat or spouse, or someone repossessing your car and it does not have a biological root cause. Depression is different than Depressive Personality Disorder.

Depressive personality deals more along the lines of actions...one portrays themselves as depressed, often for attention (this borders on histrionic personality). Depression itself is a disorder where one is truly depressed and has problems coping.
